www.claytonhomes.comClayton Homes customers report widespread issues with defective components (particularly water leaks, doors, windows, and HVAC systems), poor installation quality with uneven floors and improper setup, and frustrating delays in repairs with parts allegedly on backorder. The most critical recurring problem is inadequate customer service with dealers and factories refusing to address warranty issues or complete promised repairs.

After I moved in a Clayton Home I was in my back yard mowing, noticed a piece of trim on my home is broke. It has never been replaced. Please get in touch with me. Please!! Thank you!! Marilyn Brock
I am currently purchasing a home from you all and after a year of this I was told that my well was 21000 and I will have to pay the 24,000 out of pocket in order to finish. We did a front end closed but I wasn't notified about any overages until now.
When looking at the loan he put the price of the well at 7,000. This very discouraging and disheartening. If I don't pay they told me they would take the house. What am I suppose to do
We purchased our home in 2018 after a house fire. There has been so many problems. They hit the mobile home on a block wall and it cracked the master bedroom wall, it has never been fixed. The light switch covers keep falling off.
One light switch has actually broke and is inside the wall, when you turn it on and then back off it takes like 10 seconds for the bulb to quit burning. We had to replace the kitchen light switch because the lights kept flickering.
There is caulk all over the main bathtub. The outlets are crooked and the covers pop off of those as well. All we wanted was a forever home after losing ours in a fire. What we got is problem after problem.
Today we had to have leaks fixed because the company that they use to do the roof (shingles) will not send anyone out to fix…
What fix things if do it take them forever to get it done been waiting on a back door forever
The wind blew some of my shingles loose. I called Clayton's. They referred me to their builders who told me in fact they only replace the first year. They referred me to the shingle company who said yes it's a 40 year warranty but they only replace shiy from wind damage the first 5 years.
My roof is leaking inside my living room now. Because Clayton's won't honor their warranty and is give me the run around.. I bought the mobile home in April 2012. They told me the day of purchase that the roof shingles had a 40 year warranty
I purchased a Clayton home over a year ago and was told it would be ready in March of 2022. I was never told to get a construction loan ever and it took 5 months of trying to get financed but couldnt due to needing that kind of loan.
Since i took too long getting it they raised the price which is their fault. We got the loan and all signed in June. Nothing was happening was told to talk to permit guy he didnt want to do his job so i did part of it.
It was approved in August. Home finally arrived in November. The set up contractor they hired was terrible. Plus the guy who tore down my brothers home to place the new home in its place didnt make the pad right and one side of the homes foundation is in a lake due to all the rain and
was told someone would be there to fix it so water runs…
I have at least 2 pages of things that is wrong with my home. Every time i have contacted Clayton Homes we got the run around and when someone called us back we were told the issues were not Clayton Homes problem because the movers did not damage it when the home was moved.
How the hell does warped counter tops have anything to do with moving the home, the countertops were messed up before it left the lot and we were promised new ones before it was delivered LIE LIE LIE. My carpets are ruined because the hall stays wet.
We have soft spots in the floors and boards move/knock when you walk on them. Bathtubs have cracks, bathroom sink has never been able to be used because it leaks, walls are not strait, the shell around the tub has a 1 inch gap between the shell and the wall, the cabinets…
My husband just started in Buckhannon, WV & I would love to know why he's getting home every night at 8/9pm. It could be because the items needed for each house aren't available so they must return from a job that is most likely a 3 hour drive away. Why aren't they available?
rain gets on these items, that no one checks & that customers have specifically ordered. There are 55 UNFINISHED houses, some that haven't been finished in 2 YEARS. There was an individual working there that INSULTED CUSTOMERS TO THEIR FACES ON THEIR OWN PROPERTY & did so multiple times before being fired (I believe it was 4 times).
The head manager is allowing your company branch to sink rapidly.…
) Electric plugs have broken out of walls, nothing behind to secure to. ) Repaired cracks in ceiling will not hold up to repairs. )Trim pcs coming apart…
Oh where to start. We started our adventure in June time frame because let’s face it builders are hard to come by. So my husband (which is a disabled vet)and I decided to go for a Clayton home. We stopped at the New Lexington facility spoke to everyone fell in love with a home and put down a deposit.
Communication was semi okay at first. But then it hits out of nowhere zero contact with bank or Clayton so we keep calling to see what’s going on finally get ahold of the bank they tell us Clayton is holding everything up.
So we keep calling Clayton (my husband finally uses my phone) they answer and tell us oh we were about to call you which is the line from them each time. But then proceeds to tell us that they had to have higher ups come down because we are putting in a basement (which…
not touch. by crew. apart tore ravelled. nothing correctted if mfg fault, dealer stopped crew from coming back after months of no improvements. not replace but was told they did. However, they lied again. mention this house was dropped in a ditch when being delivered.
have been sold in this condition.
-We specifically requested the same tub that was in the floor model that we toured, when we ordered our new home in 2019. It was a garden tub with a sloping back for reclining while in the tub. When our home was received, the tub was not the one we specified.
It was a HUGE tub that could fit two people and had straight vertical sides that you cannot lean back on and relax in. When I requested the tub be replaced with the one that I specified, I was told it was no longer available.
I called the local offfice in Maryville and our sales rep numerous times but no one answered our requests. I found out later most everyone was fired from that office. I still have a tub that I do not use.
-We also purchased what we were told by our sales rep was the whole house extended warranty and later…
this is 2nd time Clayton in Conroe TX promised a $500 referral check but did not!
First time was Adrian Diaz promised my pastor she would receive a $500 check for referring me , i purchased my home in May 2018 due to my pastor and her sister finding it for me (they live in Willis, TX ! I called a few weeks after to see where their check was , he said it was too late and paperwork had been processed!
Now more recently, i referred my daughters husbands grandmother (mrs Autry) about mid April to try Conroe and to tell them my name as a reference! She said she told them my name but after a couple days from delivery if home in Palestine , Tx, Mr Adrian said someone else sold it to mrs autry but
it was too late again to process the $500 referral (seriously, the same lie) He said next time i…
We bought a Clayton platinum anniversary trailer from Clayton Homes in Barboursville when they delivered the trailer it had scratches all over the living room and kitchen floor I talked to emery. at the Clayton Homes Barboursville he was saying they was gonna cut out the strip and put a wooden strip in my floor that’s not gonna work I paid for a new trailer and
I expect one they would have to replace the whole Congoleum floor or else or put Laminate flooring from the front door to the back door which would. be the living room and kitchen area or they would have to reimburse me the money it would cost to do that and I’m not going to settle for no measly $200 it’ll be a hell of a lot more than that you can reach me at 614-439-1816
No work is being done to our home, it has been over a month since anyone was here ! All the trim in the house needs to be redone, there is large gaps between the pieces of crown molding and base board, there are a number of problems that need to be address, we have contacted the new Manager by email with little to no response for things to be fixed, excuse after excuse, after excuse, the outside is now red clay mud, no straw has been put down and
our three dogs are tracking it in all over the rugs despite us cleaning there paws, we have no vent air in our master bedroom, nobody has made an effort to rectify any of these problems, you need to get your customer service fixed, there is no excuse for anyone to have to live in a brand new house with all these problems, the problems above are…
I gave a piece of land to my son. He had Clayton Homes of Asheville, NC prepare the property and put a double wide on it. They didn’t put the house where we staked it, resulting in greater cut and fill slopes and a longer, steeper driveway that they inadequately gravelled.
They didn’t do adequate erosion control, resulting in the culvert under the driveway getting plugged, which in turn resulted in heavy runoff of mud and water flowing down the road every time it rains. Addionally, they dumped a large pile of dirt and debris on my property, which they refuse to grade and seed.
That pile of dirt also covers the outlet of a culvert under my driveway. They left a broken track from a large trackhoe between the new driveway and road, as well as other trash. I have contacted Frank Rogers…
Repairs needed on our new home when delivered Sept 17, 2019 still waiting Jan 24, 2020 the attached pictures are just a small part. The skirting that was installed is bubbled out in places. the exhaust fan in 1 bathroom doesn't work, the storm door closes and gets stuck where you have to pry it open, and nails are coming up out of the flooring under the linoleum, window sill is bowed, sliding glass door leaks water when raining has ruined trim around door and
wet the sheetrock around the door I should not have to keep calling and complaining to get this fixed still.
If I could give this a negative score I would. Freedom Homes of Milton Florida, which is apparently owned by Clayton Homes is Horrible. I would not recommend anyone doing service with them. We told them back in June or July that we needed our house to be on our property and ready to go by October 31.
We were told that would not be a problem and we could be moved in by then. We are now on 22 October. Now being told it will be two weeks until we can even get our final foundation survey because we were just told today that we even needed one.
No one at the company has kept us up-to-date with what is needed or anything like that. Every time we call it there each person tells her something different. It’s like they don’t even Horrible. I would not recommend anyone doing service with them.
We…
My complaint is against the Clayton homes of Herrmann Tennessee I walked in there 3 months ago and was told if I had land I would not need it down painting so far in the last 3 months not one single thing has been done to get me into a home or get my property looked at itemized estimated what it's going to take to clear the land to put in a septic tank moreover I just keep getting lied to about the prices of the trailer now I needed down payment they haven't even appraised my property to know if I need a down payment or not nothing is getting done then
I receive a letter from Randy Dodd saying that I need to get off my butt persei and figure out what I want to do he sent the letter to the wrong people he was supposed to send it to his employees and asked them to get off their asses and…
Purchased a used home from Clayton homes and expected to get what we agreed to. After taking delivery of the home there was a delay in getting all the hookups ( electric, water,Hvac). After the water and electric hookups we discovered the refrigerant for the heat pump had not been pumped back into the condenser.
The valves had been left open and this allowed moisture to enter the system and eventually rendering the condenser useless. We have no proof, but it appears the refrigerant was released to the atmosphere
they do not put house up right and not connect all the wires in the house they have shit woork i all ready had them out dif times and i will never buy from them again all a bunch of crooks the bbb should take all the complaintes and finialy do something to them and make them fix all the stuff they did not fix right on there homes
First of all. In November, we went to look at this house n decided to buy it, so we got a loan to get it. we dealt with Tom Wilson . Which he had on this lot. He told us that from start to finish it would take only 3 to 5 day to get it all set up .
That's with the skirting n all done. that was 3 months ago. Will . the home is all set up except for some things like the skirting n the leak stain n the doors done right. We let Tom Wilson know from get go that we had handicap grand kids n we needed everything thing done by a certain time frame n he agreed that it would be done.
First it was 3 to 5 days . Then it was 10 days. Then it was right be Christmas ,then it was after Christmas, but we did not get our home till January 3 or 4 th . 6 ,2019.
and in the middle of all this we ended up…
Poor customer service horrible work done to home and unprofessional means of communication
Closed on our home Aug 31, 2018. Prior to closing there were issues addressed and was told that "parts are on order". Once we moved in we put together a punch list of items. After two months nothing! Several phone calls and emails and was told manufacturer has "discontinued" the model and no parts are available.I asked where this left me, was told,"can't help you!" We have a list of 57 items including a roof leak and the selling dealer refuses to take care of any items.
Clayton Homes, why will you not honor your home warranty?? Calling your customer service agents has done nothing for us, not a single call received
Is legal action required?
I have lived in my 2013/heritage home for 1& a half years of 26 years payment of$754... and$29,000 down and already have a new front door replace and the threshold is very unlevel and cover with weather strip.. water had to be getting in ALL year OPEN and I have 2 defective windows in the master bedroom which one is hid behind the bed, and the other is something going on when I open the blind 3 pieces broke off cause the blind no longer fits in the window frame, not to mention mold appears on the ceilings and
exhaust fan in both bathrooms and molding is hanging off the cabinets and the walls above the middle bedroom and hallway bathroom has the drywall and paint bubble from the ceiling to window and door frames... I am sick of these hateful people who are actually trying to BLAME a…

I purchased a new home from Clayton Homes and have talked to the factory that built it and can’t get anyone to fix the house for me. We have had a leak for over a week that they haven’t fixed, we can’t finish the siding on the outside because the factory won’t fix it, we can’t finish the inside trim work because the factory won’t fix the walls, the house wouldn’t go all the way together On one end, there are humps in are floors in several rooms, the linoleum is cut and
has stuff under it in all linoleum areas, the carpet has paint in it and is cut in several places, our drawers fall apart, our roof vents aren’t sealed, our guest bath tub isn’t attached to wall and moves, we had electrical problems we had to fix our self’s,our doors won’t latch properly, we can’t use our master shower…
my mobile home was never fix right since setup floor has a dip in one room in another room there is a hill I was promise someone would show up to fix things never did it always they had to order parts my a lot of stuff needs to done in my house I am very dissatisfied I need to talk to someone before this turns into a legal matter

went to new house on weekends and when ever i could make it there. did walk threw before closing there was a cracked window in bedroom. the guy told me they had to get everything that needed fixed approved threw manufacture that they couldn't just go to local hardware store and get parts.
so over winter which was very mild I noticed i was going threw a lot of propane kept telling the lady at Clayton homes something is wrong i notice air coming threw windows and when it rained i notices water on the inside window sill so told them about it and…
Oh where do we start? J. Wolmack. This house is your Patriot Hud. and I have to tell you that this house has been nothing but problems since we moved in two months ago. I worked for Champion, Summit Crest, Titan, and Redman homes for 16 years straight and I know all about how they are built to what you can get by with.
I'm not the one to mess with when comes to repairs on the house that your factory let go and out final finish.
First of all we have a list that has been turned in to Clayton Homes. The newest list now is, there is water damage everywhere, the roof is leaking in several spots. The range vent pipe flashing is leaking on the microwave through the microwave on to the stove and on the floor.
that's the major one so far. This house needs to have 30 year shingles on this low…
A few months ago we decided to give Clayton Homes in Charlottesville va a try, we went in and met a guy named Michael he sounded like he knew what he was doing in the beginning and we trusted him he rushed us for the deposit and we did everything he asked on time!
Once he received our deposit he never contacted us back unless we pressured him! We had chosen a land that we wanted and we even got down with our pre approval process. He never checked on us and he never went and found out about the land like he said he would in two days he lied!
And because of him we lost the land we wanted and when I emailed him about it he said that he would get info on the land and this is over a month after he said he would have gotten it done! We messaged the guy about the land and he told me that the land…
it a shame to have to wait 6 mos for this disappointment while the house is on their lit and we've chosen land and walked it and chose where the house will sit.
The Sulphur Springs Texas location: The manager Steve is so unprofessional. Was in the office looking for a home. I overheard him telling a sales lady: don't make the sale don't come back, tomorrow or for good! There was pictures posted in office of sales people on other people's bodies.
He also said, "she's not the f***ing boss around here"
Me and my wife purchased a home from the Evansville Clayton homes. We have been living in the house for over a week now. We knew there would be issues and not perfect. I have attached a list of the issues we have. I don't know if this is normal or an excessive amount of defects. The plumbing is the biggest issue. We originally had a water leak when the water was first turned on , and dinner b of the faucets will just trickle out water.
They had a plumber come out and check. I figured out the water leak was from the ice maker and replaced the line myself. But the plumber came and checked the faucets. He didn't get the master bath faucet to work, said it was bad. But the other ones he got working. But the ones he got working are the ones that have leaked water where they weren't before. And…
Clayton Homes will not let us close on our land and home package. My husband and I were working on buying a land and home package from Clayton homes of Denver. We were supposed to close a couple weeks ago but they found out that the land and manufactured home was never purged. The purge has to be done before we close. Clayton homes will not do the purging they claim they've never done it before and that it is always done by the mortgage company after closing. My lender has talked to a lot of different title companies that do this and they all said the same thing it has to be done before closing. We went to talk to the manager Phil Dickson and he didn't give us any other options. He just said they didn't do it and it was not their fault.
The home was going to be a total of 245,000 and it…
We bought the doublewide in late 2014. We had issues from the get go. The base had been marked centered but when they set the home it was too far to one side. Alamo homes winded up having to add base to make it centered. We moved in on Feb. 2014.
Within a couple of months, we had a heavy rainfall, one of the windows in master bedroom leaked in. Alamo homes sent their crew to fix it. They came out twice more for same problem.
On April 2015, it rained hard again and water leaked again. I called Alamo Homes and their response was that the warranty had expired and the problem was due to normal wear and tear.
