First Hawaiian Bank faces significant customer dissatisfaction primarily around two major issues: a recent statement redesign that removed critical merchant information and made tracking expenses difficult, and extremely long wait times at Hilo branches (45+ minutes) with inadequate support for elderly and disabled customers. One positive review suggests some customers have good experiences, but the majority express frustration.

Ewa Town Center FHB, waiting in line for the next teller(1st in line) about 10:25am. My back is not doing well and I can't stand for long periods of time. Taking too long! 2 tellers but there are at least 3 others who are doing???

I go to sit at a chair (I'm the only one in line except for the lady before me who was waiting for the business line. Your employee(Jen) tells me that she will stand in line for me for the next teller.

Finally, the ederly man at one of the teller sections is done. I'm waiting by the entrance to FHB and the teller station is about 15 yards away. I noticed the free teller asking the lady in the business line but she shakes her head.

I struggle up to the front to get in line again. Jen never said a word to me as she helped the elderly man to the exit. In the…

At approximately 2:25 pm on August 03rd , 2023 I called the Dededo, Guam Branch to make an inquiry. Was constantly given the message that I was in Que #5 for more than 30 minutes. This is the type of customer service that this branch provides. Very poor.

I think you should address this with the branch managers as I'm sure there is more than one. My inguiry is that I need to get the lien release (chattel mortgage) from the bank and the original lendee is in North Carolina.

Can I use a power of attorney issued to me as the attorney at fact to obtain the lien release as the car was already pay off. Thank you for your assistance. /s/ Steven F. Barnum

I recently did a survey online because I have had a couple of bad experiences at one of the branches and I got a letter back from the branch manager that I feel was inappropriate. First of all when I did the survey I never stated that I wanted the employee gone, I just said how I felt in the survey. Kevin Murphy from the koloa branch should be more professional, attached is the copy of the letter that I received from him.

They changed their statements and made them nearly useless. It no longer tells you the business where you spent money, but instead the address. In some cases they only tell you the shopping center, which is less than helpful if they have more than one store.

Also they no longer separate credits and debits, but just throw them in chronological order. It's ridiculous they went to sending a useful piece of information to now sending a two hour google search trying to see where my company spent money.

I was at one of your branches yesterday and wanted to open a trust account.

I had with me: (1) a Restatement of the Revocable Living Trust dated July 26, 2021; (2)a Short Form Trust Agreement of the Restatement as recorded with the Bureau of Conveyances on August 2, 2021 and (3) a Durable Power of Attorney which was recorded on September 2,2021.

Please note that the Trust was already existing as a legal entity in July 2021.

After a back-and-forth with your representative running back and forth - presumably to consult with someone with more experience(?), he came back and said that I could not set up a trust checking account for the trust as the power of attorney did not give me that authority!

This was after spending an hour with him.

The proposed trust account was to replace an…

I would like to complain about the manager Coi (? I forgot how to spell her Hawaiian name) at First Hawaiian Bank University Branch, a Hawaiian lady who claimed herself as the manager in the branch along with the employee Betty.

Both of them didn't wear a name tag and didn't give me the last name. When I walked into the bank today to inquire about the closing of my checking account without giving notifications and was trying to resolve the problem.

None of them provided help and on the contrary, the manager, even yelled at me in public and said it was no problem so that the bank closed my checking account and they have every right to do so. Their attitude and service were terrible, and more importantly both of them displayed zero professionalism.

I had an auto loan thru them as that was the bank the dealership used. I am military, so when it was close to time for me to move back to the mainland, I paid off the remaining balance (over 11k) AND submitted my change of address form in person on the Mililani branch.

That is how the form said to do turn it in. This was in September of 2021. Mid October I still hadn’t received my title. I called and was told that they had NOT updated my address and mailed it to my old address.

Told me I submitted the form incorrectly and it was not their fault. I explained that what the directions on the form said to do. Was told it was still my fault they lost the title so i would have to request and pay for a copy of it from the DMV.

I was scheduled to leave the island on 2 November 2021. I requested…
