I recently filed a claim on a pair of Nike SB Chron canvas shoes that were defective (tearing in the exact same place on both shoes). The shoes were only a couple months old and I wear them primarily only indoors.
I have 4 other pair of the exact same shoe in different colors with no problems whatsoever. Ultimately, the claim was denied with no follow up email giving an explanation, not that the reason matters to me. I am a preferred Nike customer and fully expected Nike to back up their customer service by either issuing me a credit or replacing the shoes. Super disappointing experience.
