I bought a property that someone had previously had on VRBO. A month later VRBO said they were deducting money from my account because of a cancellation. The previous owner had revived the payout. I called VRBO and they said if I dropped the listing and made a new one then I wouldn’t get charged.
But a week later I was charged. After 3 hours in the phone I’m still out money.
Made a reservation on VRBO for Property # 2842808 with Host Naylan and paid in full for 12/24/2022 to 1/3/2023. Prior to arrival I was having difficulty contacting host and called from a different phone and was eventually able to speak with him on the morning of flight.
About 1/2 hour prior to boarding I was informed that the house was no longer available. M. and check in at 3. without any time to figure out what to do do upon arrival. I was refunded the money eventually but being Christmas eve on saturday and Christmas on sunday left with very few options.
Needless to say they ruined my christmas and whole vacation. Later on upon checking the house was available to rent on 12/28/22 to 12/30/22 and by looking at their facebook posts they used the house for their personal use. Had I not…

There was also banging and scraping all the time, possibly faulty pipes or air vents. We were offered an alternative apartment 37km away but that wasn't acceptable due to the distance.
We have had to find alternative accommodation at extra cost but despite the apartment being re-let we have been offered no refund. We could have held onto the keys until our departure date but handed them back in good faith.
We have reached out to the host and Bookiply to no avail. 36p, we should receive a refund for the days it has been re-let, it is unethical and unacceptable not to be refunded.

I have multiple properties with VRBO. Had a guest who tried to scam me. Threatened to give me a bad review if I didn't give her $100. She did the threat by text. Forwarded it to VRBO. They told me they would deny her request for a refund and block her review. VRBO did neither.
It's been three months and the bad review is still posted on my site, and they refunded her $200 of my money!!!
I booked a house on VRBO 8 months ago for our family Christmas. We had 13 people coming in and 3 were coming from the UK. 21 days before my check in day I received an email saying my reservation had been cancelled.
I was told they sold the house and the new owners wanted to close earlier than they thought. I was never told that the house was on the market or I would have looked for something different. Of course 20 days prior to check in makes it really difficult to find a house for 13 people that is pet friendly.

We called 3 times today dec. 1 and we're hung up on 3 times. We had a reservation for Nov. 16 thru the 20 for a cabin. It was a disaster. The first day we couldn't get into our cabin because we had no key.
We called VRBO they said if we didn't get it n they would reimburse us for a motel do we stayed at a best western plus. We finally got the key from Ricky for the second nite. So we are owed for one not at the cabin and 2 hotel rooms.

Based on my experience, VRBO has no quality guarantee on any of its listing, and it's totally up to the owner/property manager's discretion to acknowledge a problem or issue a refund to the guest. I had power outage in a house which I booked via vrbo due to a faulty fuse, and I had to leave more than one day early as the house was very cold since the heater went down.
The owner would still refuse to issue a refund, I called vrbo customer service and they told me it is up to the owner to issue a refund. They did not offer any guarantee on resolving the issues, although I have supporting photos and chat history with the owner on the vrbo app to prove my case
I booked a property on Nov 15 and when I chose the property it said that the dates were already booked. I picked a second property and booked it. The website booked both properties. I notice the double change on my credit card and was told that I could only get 40 percent of my money back.

I have booked an apartment through Vrbo to saty for four days online. The property phone did not work when tried to check on the check-in time. After long attempts it picked phone but responded it did not know lovely bedroom at Criss Resort.
Added he did not work Expedia and Vrbo who processed booking for me. And he did not get any communication for my reservation. I communcated through virtual tool the problems. The tool does not understand what I am saying. Sometimes it says no booking reserved.

I have booked a place using the VRBO… I have booked a place using the VRBO website for a stay in WARSAW Poland for my wife and 3-year-old daughter. When they arrived at the place at the time of agreement there was no such building found and the phone number that was provided by the host wasn't valid. After contacting VRBO and spending 1 hour and 35 minutes "I was transferred from department to department" because the system wasn't working while my wife and daughter were outside in the cold waiting. I was trying to rent a condo in New Smyrna. After much communication the owner agreed to rent to me for a month. Late in evening she sent an email that I would hear from VRBO about how to pay etc.
I received email at 1128am the next day that I had until 4 Pm that day to book. When I went to book at 1145AM I couldn’t. It had already been book. by contacting other customer to tell them that a mistake had been made.
I can provide many emails as proof that they both lied to me!! If I didn’t have priority in booking they shouldn’t have told me that I did!! Such poor business practice!!
I got the rental cancellation two days before checkin. Vrbo didn't contact me for rebooking until I requested. I made couple calls and chats. They said the issue was escalated but they ask me to wait until the checkin day??
The rebooking team can't be reached through phone call. This was stressful for us as we had to find a new place to stay and the last minute booking was way more expensive for the similar property. They showed low efficiency and did not care about the travellers.

A potentially guest got in touch to say she was having problems trying to book my property. I got in touch with your Company and they told me they were experiencing difficulties but offered no help. I managed to get in contact with this potential guest a short time later to discover that she had booked another property.

Never rent with VrBO – you will have your worst nightmare I rented an apartment in NY for 5 months. While I was there we had an extreme severe mice infestation. In only one of the nights there were 5 mice killed on the mousetrap.
They were sreaming the hole night because they were half alive and half dead s in our room. We were there if our two small kids . After 4 nights of mice infestation we decided to leave the house. I called Vrbo for support for many times.
I had to stay for more then 10 hours in phone calls and their help to me was just saying “pay the hotel by yourself”, “reebook a new proporty by yourserlf” and they promided to reimburse me. 000,00 dolares and my credit card just don’t allow me to do this rebooking.

We rented 61 sailfish drive for the weekend and never have been so unsatisfied in my life. The pool was dirty,the hot tub was dirty and the house was not properly cleaned. We were kicked out after we complained. Happy to provide screen shots for anyone looking to rent this hell hole!

I was scammed twice in one week when renting off of VRBO. They obviously don’t screen their properties or confirm they are legitimate. I was scammed in the same week by 2 different properties and 2 different scammers. After several attempts calling VRBO and nobody doing anything about it, I handled it on my own.
Sadly, it is 3 days after I reported it and the fake property is still listed on their properties and you can still book and pay the scammer. They didn’t remove it or anything. I copied the listing, videoed the listing and gathered all of my information.
Worst part is we are now out of a place to stay. I would only use Airbnb. VRBO is horribly managed. Beware and do your own research before renting since VRBO let’s Scammers take customers money and never even helps you.
VRBO purposefully removes any negative reviews and maintains fake/ made up reviews of 5 star. They have no inspection practices and ask guest to work it out any issues directly with scrupulous owners even though there is deceptive advertising on the condition of the house.

I lodged a complaint following my recent holiday in France regarding, no wifi for 2 weeks, a broken back door for 11 days and a third bedroom not serviced by air/con in 39 degree heat. All amenities were listed as available.
I made a complaint whilst in the property to VRBO via chat and approached the owner as advised. The VRBO customer service dept requested evidence. As one of the complaints was no wifi, the evidence had to be sent on my return, in numerous emails.

We rented a property from VRBO from July 18-August 11. I was billed by the property owner for damages to a bedspread that were not done by me. I called VRBO four times to complain about her false charges and the only recourse I had was to dispute the charges on my credit card.
The guest has no other recourse and the host can accuse the guest of anything they want without the guest having any recourse. The host was hostile to me on several occasions. When we lost water, she accused me of running the pump when the power went out.

Case number 36581241 Filed a complaint against this property after arriving and left within an hour, forced to book elsewhere as home was not to any standards and was misrepresented as a 5 star accommodation. Upon entering we noticed a damp must order and noticed the home was humid and damp to the touch on all surfaces and furniture.
Furthermore there were insects through out the home, mold and dust on all ac vents, out door furniture was so mold covered they were unusable. In addition, the linens and towels were stained and dirty, the grill wasn’t operable. This was far beyond a “cleanliness” issue, the AC wasn’t operating properly resulting in a humid, damp, musty smelling house.

In March 2022, we rented a property for a trip to Minneapolis in July. Two days before our trip, the property cancelled our reservation. Vrbo complaint representatives were terrific about opening a complaint for us, but now require us to email a copy of our driver’s license and credit card statement with a copy of the hotel receipt. Our receipt from our alternate, last minute reservation was from a hotel chain that requires ID to check in, and the receipt shows payment in full.
A copy of our driver’s license and credit card statement would give anyone who circumvented the email a golden opportunity to commit identify theft. I would urge Vrbo to protect the personal information of their customers and accept a fully paid, national chain hotel invoice as sufficient information to process.

I was left all on me to find the property for my wife and kids. This was the worst night as I, my wife, and 2 kids were on the street for 8 hours of ordeal between 2 am on June 5th till 10 am on Jun 5th because of failure of VRBO. I went ahead and booked an alternative stay from June 5th - Jun 8th myself.

I was renting a place for next July. July 20-24 with 12 people 6 adult and 6 kids (16-3 years old) The price quoted was approx. 00. After I put my deposit on my credit card. I received an email saying he was excepting reservation for that far in advance however he had also changed the date.
I took a picture of my dates I reserved the time and he completely changed it to 2024 not 2023.

Atrocious customer service. You can be 100% guaranteed a ruined trip and long hold times if you happen to have the misfortune of an owner cancelling your booking last minute. I had planned an 11 day stay and prepaid in full but 4 days prior to arrival the host cancels. Almost impossible to reach a live person to rebook while understandably in crisis mode. Then to add insult to injury there is no financial compensation for any money you are out of pocket on non-refundable trip related incidentals.
NOTE THAT VRBO POLICY IS THAT AN OWNER CAN CANCEL AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON. They have zero sympathy for your plight. Its Russian Roulette if your place will be available by the time your trip rolls around. AirBnb at least dings the owner financially so they are discouraged from cancelling.

I booked my vacation through VRBO and when I arrived there was no reservation. VrBO failed to help me find accommodations and did not do anything. All they said was we issued a refund but mind you takes 7 ton10 days to get.

Their cancellation policy is lame. You really don't know what your getting until you actually arrive at the rental. You can only cancel several days before your arrival. You should also require real life videos of each rental. This way you know what you're getting before you get there.

I booked a 2 bedroom, ocean view and pool view with a lazy river via vrbo at the Compass Cove in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I paid over $1200 with fees and taxes for a 2 night stay .
Upon my arrival, I though I was at the wrong place. The pictures on the vrbo site showed the room spacious, updated, bright, clean and inviting. When we arrived, the place was run down, dirty, dark, not cleaned. There was no lobby to sign in with, the person i was working with though VRBO was just available via messaging, and wouldn't provide a phone number when I asked.
