I have had nothing but excellent service on Amtrak. But after reading the article in the Washington Post about discontinuing the dining car and dining service on long distance Amtrak routes I am about to have a complaint. The dining car with it's good food, excellent service and wonderful conversations with new and interesting fellow passengers is one of the reasons I take the train for long distance travel rather than any of the myriad modes of travel available.

If I wanted a pre-made boxed style of food I would take a plane. One of the reasons mentioned for the discontinuation was "millennials" wanting their privacy and feeling uncomfortable being seated with strangers for meals. The change your company has made on the Lake shore Limited from Chicago to New York regarding removal and changes of the dining car and Cafe. This car was always available to all paying passengers, but now I find your changes and restrictions have made a type of dining car only available to the higher paying customers and coach seats are restricted to its us.

I am Handicapped, we brought about 1 month of medical supplies & required medicines..our Train Southwest Chief to Chicago enroute text us no train available from Washington D.C..& we would have secure our continual transportation to Georgia..we were left stranded on the assumption Hurricane conditions would prevail.(it did Not)..(Dorian) had no effect other than it took far reaching relatives to get us back to So.Calif. Our experience with Amtrak was terrible. When I booked the reservation I was told we would have 2 single beds toilet shower in room for wheelchair. We ended up with 2 bunk beds toilet NO SHOWER. The new attendant finally turn the bed into two hard seats.

We had to sleep in chairs for entire trip. My butt & back of thighs are all black & blue & very sore, sitting on pillows now. Your reservationist gave me all the wrong information. Your food was excellent. The two attendents on train where great.

Left San Diego 8/15, stopped in Capistrano because of an accident involving train in front of us. 5 1/2 hrs sitting on train with updates we would be moving forward to Burbank. As conductor was leaving train he said this train is not going to be going forward.

We are in our 70’s and had our grandson. Got off the train at dusk, no Uber or Lyft app and no way to download it. Car rentals were closed. We were frustrated, concerned on what to do, we are from Washington.

A Lyft driver offered us a ride for cash since we did not have app to order one. We took a HUGE chance on our safety going with him but it was dark and didn’t know what to do, It cost us $200 to get to Pasadena, we are on a fixed income and this was not in our travel budget.

The departure stated 4:43am but the train did not leave the station until 6:30am. The return trip was late as well. This causes a problem, especially if someone is waiting for you. Can anything be done to help elevate these problems for future travels not just for me but others as well?

The Porter is angry and seems to hate customers. Terribly rude. Informed us he was an ex drill Sargent and he treated us like we were misfit new grunts. Worst customer service I’ve ever seen. Is bad enough with your dirty trains and poor equipment, then have this poorly trained employee represent your Train system with behavior like that.

Is he a reflection of Amtrak’s corporate ethics?

My family and I was devastated about the way we dropped off at an empty desolate Memphis Train Station! We paid for round trip tickets from Jackson Ms to Chicago il. No accommodations were offered to get us home! Amtrak left us stranded with a 5 month old and small children with nobody to talk to!!!

We were stranded 7/15/19 for 7 hours!! Amtrak personnel services were very rude in Chicago! There is no excuse that Amtrak can give for doing it's paying customers this way! It's a shame! com

Today July 13, 2019, we were to riding AMTRAK Train # 821 from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Fort Worth, Texas and return. At about 6:00pm on July12, 2019 we received an e-mail saying the train had been cancelled because of a service disruption (whatever the Hell that is).

A small group of us were taking a trip on AMTRAK and had been planning it for over a year. I now find Train # 821 will be running on July 13, 2019 but is sold-out. This tells me you were "overbooked" and had to cut some reservations.

All that I can say is YOU BASTARDS!!!!! We had this excursion planned for a year and because of overbooking on your part we were left at the station--literally!!!! What makes these other people any better than us! As far as I am concerned AMTRAK just lost several customers.

I was riding an Amtrak train with a Metrolink ticket. It was my first time riding any of these Metro trains. I boarded the wrong train on the misadvice of a train depot employee. m. something. The conductor rudely told me I had the wrong ticket and that I had to get off at the next stop and wait for the next Metrolink train coming in 15 minutes.

He was somewhat dramatic about it, drawing attention and embarrassment to me. There was no train that ever came. I missed my doctor's appointment because of this rude employee. It happened almost 45 minutes ago. Train probably just got there to Union Station in Downtown LA.

On 05/18/2019 My husband and I took my 83 year old mother along with her sisters and brother (all seniors) to Chicago to surprise another sister that lives there. It was their first time and riding on a train. We left St.

Louis on the 302 at 6:40am and was suppose to arrive in Chicago at 12:20pm; minutes into the yard at Chicago Union Station, we had to sit on the train for 3 hours due to power outage. I witnessed people getting off the train and walking down a muddy hill with debris everywhere, very dangerous area.

We were told by the announcer that the police was called because several people were trespassing on Amtrak's property; and any remaining passenger attempted to leave the train we would be arrested. The announcer throughout the wait could not tell us the correct information…

) took your bus from San Luis Obispo to San Jose CA. I would like to register a complaint about this journey. After struggling to find two seats together, we crammed into our seats like Sardines . After 10 minutes, we began feeling hot & uncomfortable and soon discovered why.

The overhead lights in the entire bus went on and could not be turned off. The heat coming from the lights was unbearable. I felt like I couldn't breathe. Panic stricken, I started to hyperventilate. Amtrak train and it's conductors are wonderful, but on my BIRTHDAY of all days, was a nightmare yesterday. A. Union Station to Oxnard. I was scheduled to leave Oxnard train station at 5:40. I arrived early and waiting inside the waiting room for the train.

Around 10 additional people were also waiting for the train. NO one announced the arrival of the train, NO one in the lobby said anything! We saw the train pass us by, and the employer and the security guard calmly said, "That was your train.

You were supposed to wait outside". NO one said this to us earlier. I was charged an additional 5 dollar fee on my credit card to take the next train which was to arrive at 7:45pm. It would have been too late to connect to the Metrolink train from Union Station to go home to Newhall Metrolink.

I Attempted to purchase a round trip ticket on 4/21/2019 for NY leaving on 4/23/2019 at 6:20 am from Union Station, I was informed by the ticket agent at the terminal that there were no trains leaving on that date at that time. She further informed me that the best that she could do was to put me on the 5:55 am train.

When I arrived at the station on 4/23 at 5:20 am I observed that there were no trains leaving at 5:55 am so assuming a mistake on the part of the agent I got on the 6:20 train, I was informed by the Conductor that I was on the wrong train (number 130) as apposed to 138 and that I would have to call USA RAIL to make corrections less my entire round trip be fouled up!

Triple charged screwed up reservation. Daughter and some others show up 7 or 8 min before departure. Guy handling doors says they can get on if lady says it’s okay. She says no. My daughter has ticket right there and is in her way back to college, classes tomorrow.

Now she’s stuck in Chicago and we’re out more money to get her back and then drive her all the way down in the middle of the night. And no refund has gone thru. Called and they said only 1/3 is scheduled to b refunded.

Hello, I am filing this customer complaint about my experience dealing with the attendant working in the Café Car of Amtrak train Regional 125 from New York City to Washington, DC on April 11, 2019. m. " "Tim" was extremely rude to me when I entered the Café Car.

He informed me immediately upon me entering the car that the Café Car was closed - I had yet to even speak. His tone was rude and discourteous. I was embarrassed as someone else was standing close by. I then asked him what time will the Café Car open?

He said can't you see I am busy right now.

Nevertheless, I did not return to the Café Car as I was afraid of this employee. I rode for 3 hours hungry and thirsty. People like this should not work in areas that expose them to the public. This was unacceptable. Thanks for your time.

I purchased a round trip ticket from Corcoran Ca. to Hemet Ca. which required I also use the Amtrak bus. The ride from Corcoran Ca. to Hemet was ok.

However, for the return trip, I suffered a financial burden due to the negligence of the Amtrak bus driver.

Specifically, I was at the bus stop for the return trip at the specified time. I was about 20 feet from the bus stop as I did not want to be by the other people at the bus stop. The bus passed the bus stop.

The bus did not slow down or stop. One would assume that they should at least stop at designated stops at the designated times. I did call Amtrak and was told the driver does not have to stop if no one is standing there.

I explained I was there and other people were there as well. Amtrak refused to assist me and left me stranded.…

On March 25 2019 I took a trip from Illinois to Massachusetts with my granddaughter to show her the joy I found riding on a Amtrak Train. I have taken this trip many times. This was her 1st trip on Amtrak.

I wanted it to be memorable but it was memorable for the wrong reasons. Below are the my top 4 reason for this complaint.. 1. " I question one of the café attendant's as to why these seats were blocked off?

I was told he did not know? 2. After finding another seat I found that the foot rest was broken and could not be used. 3. The bathroom for the business class was not operational after the first couple of hours and would not be fixed until the end of the line.

Amtrak has delivered poor customer service on all ends. I had purchased a gift card for an Amtrak ticket and had issues on the app purchasing the ticket. The app gave me an error message stating that my card would not he charged.

When I tried again the card had in fact been charged without receiving my ticket. When I called customer service they told me there was nothing they could do as their refund office was closed until Monday. I told the conductor my issue as well and received very rude and poor treatment.

I was told to repurchase a ticket I already paid for and told that if I could not I would have to exit the train. Before I left the train I needed to use the restroom as the train was already heavily tardy and delayed about an hour and delayed at LA Union Station.

I was a passenger on your trains #3 and #4 June of 2018. I was in the handicap section due to respiratory problems. All the toilets in that car were out of service. They did offer to move all passengers to another car.

This would have caused a bigger delay due to my health. A young mother with a young child got on at one the stops. When she was informed of the toilet situation she asked the conductor could seat them else where.

Instead of trying to accommodate her the conductor started to berate her in loud rude manner. It embarrassed my sister,niece and myself. " The trip back to Missouri was no better. The toilets broke and the closest one was at least two cars away.

I called Amtrak customer service on 2/18/19 to find our info on purchasing monthly passes. I was greeted by customer service. I asked about the monthly pass. " Amtraks Customer Service Rep advised this was a 30 day pass and my pass would be valid until 3/18/19. So I purchased.

Only to find out on March 1st, that my pass wasn't valid and the man taking the tickets on the train was extremely rude and threated to call the police on me and have me ARRESTED even after I told him the situation. I was very calm and he humiliated me for no reason.

Going to purchase a ticket to Jacksonville Florida I needed to use the Amtrak station restroom station in west palm beach the customer agent told me to use the out restroom located 500 feet from the ticket counter. Needed to urinated and I was refused the rest room customer service was extremely rude.

Been riding the train for 2 months Oceanside to Anaheim. The afternoon ride 782 has a serious on-time performance. I can under stand 5-10 minutes late. But 45 minutes several times ? and from what I read nothing has changed for years.

Not to mention I almost missed a train because the ticket personnel at te Oceanside terminal took 20 minutes to enter and print out a ticket. Read a story lots of peoepl want to invest in Amtrack the future looks bright for train commuting but as they said if Amtrack is running the program it will not work out.

Mid-January, I bought a one-way nonrefundable tkt from WAS-NYP for $49. B/c he was going to drive to New Jersey for gov't training, my husband planned to meet me in NYC and drive me back home to DC.

B/c of stupid gov't SHUTDOWN, my husband could no longer train in NJ. I called Amtrak Jan 24 to get another one-way tkt WAS-NYP and two one-ways NYP-WAS.

The man I talked to CANCELLED my nonrefundable one-way WAS-NYP -- costing me $49 -- and made two round-trips, going when I didn't want to go (we had talked about this) and returning at 8 a.m. when I'd said we wanted the 11:10 from NYP.

This had all taken 45 minutes since every time something came up, he had to "put me on hold" so I guess he was in training. I tried to be patient but at the end I lost it.

Reservation # EC2939-November 18. I attempted to interact with the dining staff on 3 occasions and had very disrespectful and rude interactions with one specific gentleman: William. The first time, I simply entered the empty dining room to take a look, he was the only person in the room and he rudely snapped at me and chased me out.

The 2nd time, in the middle of the night, no one was awake & it had been silent for over a couple hours, I slipped into my pajama bottoms, as I had seen 3 others do earlier. He opened the door and gasped.

Last night I was travelling the 9:06 PM Northeast Regional 123 from NY to Washington. Around midnight, I went to the dining car to refill my water bottle. When I arrived at the service counter, there was no one there.

I waited for a few minutes, looking around for help but there was no one in sight other than a young woman sitting at a nearby table, facing me, doing paperwork. After a little while a little kid came to the counter as well, with an empty water cup.

I purchased 3 tickets on November 16, 2018 - 2 adult and 1 child. We had an apt in Philadelphia, we should have arrived about 10:40. The trained arrived about 1pm. We sat on the train for an additional 2 1/2 hours! Our reservation number was E75331 from Lancaster, PA to Phila 30th st.

That same evening we left Phila (30th st station) to Lancaster, PA. Our train was 1 1/2 hours late. I would like to be reimbursed for these tickets. I have copies of the tickets should you need them.

I went up to the cafe cart on the Carolinian Train 80 to New York at 8:24am - 7:00pm. I ordered my breakfast since I am on the train for 10 hours. I gave her my standard payment a debit card which I have payed with previously with other train carts.

NO INTERNET Service!! during our trip to the Grand Canyon or on our return home. I feel this was falsely advertised by your company. I am not the only one that was complaining about it on your train. I would think with a company as large as yours a better Internet service could & should be provided to your customers to make the trip more enjoyable.

Tried to get info on the Coast Starlight when the Northern Cal fires were interrupting service. Calling Customer Service a waste of time. Then found out part of the route that was supposed to be train was bus. Got the station about 10 minutes ahead of departure time and the bus had already left. s. " We were polite.

No yelling or cursing, and she was down right rude. And, show me where on a ticket it says to be there an hour or two ahead of time. Can't find it? Nope,neither could we. Drove my friend who was the passenger to the next station about 100 miles away.

My major complaint was with the connecting bus company that was to transport my wife and I from Rochester, MN. to Lacrosse, WI.. I first want to make it clear the bus drivers gave us 5-star service to and from Rochester.

They were extremely courteous and friendly. One small problem was the name of the bus company was not the name on our eTicket ("Go Carefree Shuttle"). This led to a little confusion going to Rochester. The name on the bus was "Groome Transportation".

The problem started before our return trip with an employee of Groome Transporation. On the afternoon of September 14th, my wife had the forsight to call Groome to make sure we were to be picked-up at the Days Inn Hotel.

Note: The Days Inn Hotel closed permanently, with Groomes' office and an attached restaurant closing soon.…

Purchased a round trip ticket for my daughter, Christina Bara, to visit me in Pittsburgh from NYC from August 31, 2018, returning September 4, 2018, Pennsylvanian 43 and 42..

As you are aware there were flooding and engine problems on the trip to Pittsburgh on August 31, 2018, as the trip was never completed. The train could not proceed past Lancaster. My daughter was given bus transportation to Harrisburg, and told there would be arepresentative there to help her and the 20+ others who accepted this option.

Upon arrival at Harrisburg, at about 8:35PM, not only was there any Amtrak representative there, but the station was deserted. I decided to drive to Harrisburg, a distance of about 210 miles, or about 3.5 hours. As we would have to stay overnight in Harrisburg, my daughter got a room…

Regarding auto train on July 26,2018. Several train delays regarding dining car ovens not working. Staff very disorganized. Arrived in lorton very late, finally got our vehicle around 2pm. Hello. I arrived at the Amtrak station in Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday August 9th at about 6:05 am and checked my luggage (1bag). The train to Washington, DC was to depart at 6:45 am. I am a disabled passenger.

As it was time to board, I was waiting at the handicap or disabled bench to get the ride to the train. When the attendant came to pick me up and I got on the cart, he was about to take me to the train, he was informed by another attendant that the train had pulled off and

that she had called on the radio twice to inform that there were two more disabled passengers coming, but she did not get a response. Amtrak train service is a joke!,but I'm not laughing!!The only sure thing with them is delays,delays,delays!!!!You have total disregard for people's lives and time!! My daughter's train was set to arrive in West Palm Beach at 4:30,but she gets a notification that the train wouldn't even be leaving Tampa until 3:30 due to a delay,this is just plain unacceptable!!!and its not the 1st time she comes here often,but it's never been delayed that long.Something has got to be done about this,I'm beyond upset!!!

Safety/medical is my complaint. On July 2, 2018, I travelled for the first time on Amtrak. My health was comprised on Amtrak. I was told that Amtrak was air conditioned. It was not. I was dripping sweat. I am a 69 year old male who had undergone quadruple heart surgery a year and a half ago.

A 5 hour trip turned into an eight hour trip as the train was scheduled to arrive at its destination at 8:15pm but did not arrive until 10:45pm. The lack of air conditioning on this very hot day, 98 degrees plus the extended time on the train was a health concern.

This could have presented as a medical emergency and Amtrak would have been at fault. 00 dollars be refunded to me. My ticket number is 097934872921. , MA 01119. I sincerely hope that Amtrak takes this matter seriously as this could pose a…

00 gift certificate from Jenny Jacobs for my birthday in May of this year. It was our plans to take the train from Bloomington, Ill. To Chicago as I had never been on a train before. On our first attempt Amtrak canceled the trip because the tracks were being repaired.

We were offered a bus ride but that defeated the purpose of myself getting to experience the train ride. We rescheduled and were understanding of the situation. On our second attempt we boarded the train only to be told that it had a broken hose and would be delayed for several hours.

Because we had theater reservations we were forced to drive up that day. We have attempted twice only to be disappointed each time. Because of the 2 failed attempts we tried to receive a full refund and have been met with closed…

On my recent return trip from NYC to Washington, DC I incurred a problem. My original ticket had been mistakenly changed to the wrong date. I was not able to receive the ticket by email, so I did not realize the mistake until I was at the ticket counter in Penn Station. The ticket reservationist was so rude from the get go--not looking at me, and when she couldn't pull up the revised ticket, just said you don't have a ticket. I had given her my ID look up if a mistake had been made. Getting a new one-way ticket through 9 or 10pm was $188, and not in my budget. I asked if there was a possibility of using Amtrak Guest Rewards and she had no interest in offering the number. Very rude. She supplied the number for AGR in a very low voice.

On Thursday the 24th of May I was scheduled on the evening train going from Chicago to Quincy . Unfortunately we were told there was a derailment and our train was cancelled. They then proceeded to put the Quincy passengers on a train going to Galesburg where we were told a coach would take us to Quincy.

On arrival there was no coach waiting and we were told we had to wait about 3 hours for another train. By the time we got to Quincy it was 6am on the Friday morning not the 10pm we should have been there on the Thursday night.

I was a female traveling alone all the way from the United Kingdom were I had no phone signal to contact my hotel and was just dumped at Quincy station with no means for reaching my hotel as the hotel coach which was to meet me off the train at 10pm had obviously…

3 complaints: Had group of 40 senior citizen passengers; and we were (1) split all over the train coming back from Alexandria, Va to Yemassee, SC. Even husbands and wives placed in different cars and I'd paid over $7,647 dollars.

All because someone did not reserve group seats for us. (2) One passengers husband was in car accident while she was on the trip and they would not allow her to come back day early to visit him in hospital.

They said that was a "change" on the ticket and no one could help her during weekend. (May 17-20). (3) They put one of my group members wheel chair off in Florence, SC by mistake and then informed me on the way to Yemassee, SC where we were to get off.

85 yrs old and should have not taken window seat and did not want to disturb spread out sleeping passenger next to me so I went to the lounge car to stay the entire trip from oceanside to seattle. In the evening hours a young woman who thought she could sing like patsy cline along with 4or5 friends were drinking and being very loud and disturbing. m.

and stopped only because they were about to reach their destination. NO attendant ever came in to tell them to keep noise down. On return trip I purchased a sleeper and no attendant came to show me how to lower the bed and I sat in chair entire trip home!

I cannot drive and do not fly and would like to visit my children again but afraid I'm going to have the same miserable experience and the cost of that sleeper was really more than I could…
