As a veteran which does not apply to the staff there i want to take my business else where. I never felt this horrible buying a car in my life. I have had 4 vehicles from Carmax. I purchased my last vehicle in January 2022, and it is May 2022 and the vehicle needs a new transmission which will cost $7000. There is NO WAY on God's green earth that Carmax can say that this vehicle went through an inspection in its entirety.

The vehicle is 7 years old. Yes I feel that we were bamboozled out of our money for this vehicle, THIS particular time. I will not stop until this issue is resolved. This is totally unacceptable and hurtful being that I have been a loyal customer to Carmax for years with mutiple vehicles.

I purchased a vehicle at the Kenner, Louisiana Carmax on 11/3/21. After a few days, I realized that this was not the vehicle for me. The Kenner location did not have a vehicle that I was interested in so I returned the car to the Covington, Louisiana location from where I bought my current automobile.

I was thrilled at the ease of not only purchasing the original car but also at the ease of returning the car 3 days later and the way the newest transaction was handled. I drove home happily with my latest purchase.

I bought a Mazda CX5 from Carmax in Hartford, CT on 4/12/22, after agreements of front bumper paint for a scratch and touch up on doors. A service order was placed by my sales rep. I scheduled my service appoint for the following week on 4/21/22 at 9am, I dropped my car off Wednesday evening 4/20/22.

I left in the car a few personal items such as 2 different types of cell phone chargers, a pen and a Duwalt drill on the passenger seat floor. Picked up my car on 4/25/22. On Wednesday evening 4/27/22, needed the drill to put together an item, I searched my car for the drill and its nowhere inside my car, where its been kept.

I bought a car here back in January, the car has been giving me problems since last month.

First of all there is no maintenance being done on the cars. I bought the car with tire pressure of 65. It caused a blowout on the fwy. I am currently pregnant and that was extremely dangerous. That is a liability.

Now I’m having issues with the battery or the alternator. The car has left me stranded in dangerous areas. I work in a location where there are drug addicts, and I have had to sit and wait in my car for someone to come jump start me.

I have tried calling the service department and have not heard from anybody. I’m beyond stressed and emotionally drained from this car. I need it for everything I thought when I went to CarMax I was being safe, no way CarMax would sell me a lemon.

Oxnard, CA location March 27, 2022, purchased a Honda Odyssey for my daughter (trying to help where i can) and traded in Nissan Pathfinder. I showed them the balance on my account, but due to it being Sunday, they could not confirm, totally understand.

I bought and paid cash for my car from CarMax on 2/15 from the CarMax at Texas Stadium in Dallas. It is now 4/22 and I still have not received my title and permanent license plates from CarMax. My check cleared a long time ago but not only haven't I received my title and license plates but CarMax has no idea when they will arrive. I have already had to go to the Texas DMV during my workday once to extend my temporary plates and do not want to do it again. I have never experienced anything like this when buying a car and I have purchased over 15!! I am losing my patience.

No stars would be appropriate. I attempted to setup and purchase a car from the Carmax location in West Columbia SC. After 5 hours plus. No car and was asked too see/prove where my down payment money came from. Management had the “nerve “ too have the sales representative come to me personally and ask me to show him my personal banking information.

I needed too prove to the manager where my money came from. 23 years of military service retired MSG/15 years working for the federal government. Total 38 years of service and hard work. That’s where I got my money. Anyone ever ask you where you got your money from during a business transaction. This is beyond belief.

But in SC, what I’ve learned so far is that we should have stayed in Virginia.

My car shut off on 3/4/22 and my daughter called CarMax roadside assistance. My daughter and 2 small children were stranded for well over 3 hours on a very busy highway (I-20) with no assistance from roadside assistance. This is unacceptable and should not have happened.

I m very dissatisfied with CarMax overall. Thank GOD my husband finally made it back to go help them out. We have yet to hear anything from Carmax regarding this issue.

My experience when attempting to purchase a vehicle was horrible. I was told to come in at a scheduled appt time only to been seen two hours after the the scheduled time. I was discriminated against after filing a complaint and requesting to work with another location.

I was told that Carmax was refusing to conduct business after they ran my credit multiple times due to a mix up and being approved. They refused to provide a valid reason as to why they were refusing purchase of the vehicle. I do not recommend.

I probably should have checked out the reviews first but I was actually referred by a relative. I can understand why this company only has one and a half stats and have been sued multiple times.

I purchased a car from the Roseville, Ca lot recently. I have taken my car in twice now within the first 60days of having the car and keep being told that is how the car runs. It idles high, between and 2-3, I was given the car back and was told “this is normal” for a Subaru. I have now taken my car back again, because it is jumping and making a squeaking sound when you drive on the freeway. My husband did drive with w Carmax Rep who was able to experience this as well and said yes that’s not normal. Now we are to pick up our car again, we are being told AGAIN this is normal. This is for Jason Gallacher, the senior vice president of the Norcross, Ga location of Carmax.

I recently bought a car from the Norcross location 4 months ago. So far, it has needed service for a catalytic converter after just two months of driving. Today, March 15, 2022, my car did not start. The lights came on, but there was a clicking noise and nothing started. So, that means one of two things: 1) bad starter, or 2) faulty ignition switch.

I called the Norcross location FOUR TIMES.... 1st time, after talking for three minutes and waiting on hold for 5, I was hung up on. The second time I called I was on hold for 5 more minutes, someone picked up the phone, and then hung up. When I called again, waited for 3 - 4 minutes and was transferred to a Carmax location on Buford highway. I…

Carmax is the worst place to buy a car. They knowingly sold me a car that had a bad transmission. They basically turn the warning lights off and once the 30 trail period is up you are basically stuff with a 9k transmission bill.

To top it all off when you purchase a car from them, their version of cleaning the car is to run it trough the car wash and left the inside dusty and dirty! When I complained they told me they would give me $20 towards my detailing bill, which turned out to be $225 and when I complained about the not being enough they gave me $100 and left me with $125 bill. The worst customer service.

I or my family will not buy from them in the future.

The service manager Patrick called and said it is the brake sensor so I agreed they replaced that and as soon as I drove a couple of miles again the brake light comes on!!!! After 3 months and 3 x in your shop and alot of $$ spent that is the answer I get from Car Max.??

I’m writing to inform you of my negative experience with your Company. I found the car I was searching for on your website. I reach out and inquired about the vehicle which was a 2017 BMW x6 color Black Stock# 21712704 on the number available.

I spoke with a Rep Name James at the beginning. I informed Him that I pre-qualified for the vehicle but it was in Alabama. He informed me that I could not do a transfer until I was approved for the vehicle.

The first of December 2021 had my car appraised by CarMax at $4000. Based on our car evaluation we reviewed CarMax web site to find another car. Found one in St Louis and paid $400 to bring it to Austin.

We liked the car and was ready to buy. But our appraisal had expired so it had to be done again. Since our car was a month older and in new year (2022) we expected the appraisal to come down a little.

They said the new appraisal was just $1000. This was shocking! We were very upset and left. We feel Car Max took us to cleaners and we lost $400.

Purchase a car on 11/09/2021. Did all the paperwork. I received a package on 12/12/21 to take to the courthouse to get the vehicle register. It also included a check for the registration. The check wasn't enough so I contacted CarMax in Shreveport LA.

I was told it was my responsibility to pay whatever the difference were. I have never heard that before. This is not my 1st time purchasing a vehicle from another state. Some one was supposed to call me back. I haven't received that call yet.

Got sold a 70k+ car and the airbag warning light came on. Taken car back to the Car Max location and service we very rude and was just washing there hands of the situation. They said I needed to wait for 2 days before they can look at it. Offered no loaner options.

They sold an inadequate care without proper QC checks. The service dept lady was very rude and didn't care. Never ever buy from here again. They don't care about losing sales obviously.

I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee in June from CarMax in Greenville SC. I was told the CarFax report was clean and it had gone through a complete inspection. A few days after purchasing a warning light came on and I took it back where they had to replace something with the fuel cap.

A few weeks after purchasing there were noises from the front end. I took it back and they replaced the upper and lower control arms. The car spent multiple days in the shop. I noted after that there was a hissing noise when cranking but they could not find anything.

I’m putting in a complaint because I was given misleading information from employees at Carmax in Alpharetta,GA. I been trying to do a trade in and was receiving discriminating feedback from the employees and the person from the finance company.

I have been trying to purchase a car from CarMax since September. I drove to Atlanta Ga to get a 2017 Nissan Maximum. I was locked out of my payroll website after to many tries, so the car did not come home with me.

00 waived because I did not want to drive all the way back to Atlanta. five hours from me. The Rep Cameron informed me that it should not be an issue. Well it was. The car was shipped and i had no clue it had made it to Gainesville.

We purchased a car from CarMax several months ago then financed through our bank (due to better interest rate) and it’s now been 6 months since they were suppose to switch the Lien holder from CarMax to our bank. We recently got into a car accident and our insurance is attempting to pay the loan off but cannot because the car is in limbo.

CarMax has refused to transfer the car title to our new loan holder for the last 6 months. Do not purchase from CarMax!! If they are unable to execute simple transaction like this then they are unqualified to keep track of purchases correctly.

I have experienced poor customer service from Car Max Auto Finance Service since the end of September. I request to be sent out to me and I was told I would receive by I certain time and and 3 weeks later I have yet to receive it.

In the mean time I have called CarMax Corporate office and Auto Finance office and been on hold for over in hour and transferred to another line where I was on hold for another 30 mins. It it very unorganized and no one is able to tell me where my title is or if it has been mailed out.

As I am writing this I am still on hold which is a total one hour and 27 mins! It shows lack of customer appreciation and professionalism. Once I get my title from CarMax that's it! I will never do business with CarMax again and will not recommend to my friends and family.

Purchased a Jeep from Carmax in Merriam, Kansas store on 6/29/2020. Have contacted the Merriam store on several occasions only to receive rude responses and no resolve to our situation. We still are not able to license and register this vehicle with DMV in Missouri due to not having the original title.

One conversation said it was sent to her original address listed, was not received and subsequently my daughter moved because of domestic violence towards her. The title should have been resent to her new address, however this has not happened, no matter how many times we have called to get this resolved.

This issue must be resolved soon by some matter, if the title is gone and can't get replaced soon then another satisfactory resolve to both parties should be reached. We find this to be…

After receiving an offer to purchase my car, I then had an appraisal to check my vehicle to see if it meets their standards. When I was presented an offer, it was less than the figure I was sent through email . Two weeks ago a woman ran into my trunk. Car Max told me the car was less than the email quote. I was quoted less because of frame damage.

I checked with my adjuster and the auto body who lifted the car and saw no damage to the frame. Both they and the insurance company claim NO FRAME Damage. What they did see was rust that was attended to. Some filed the spot down and had sprayed the area with a rustproof spray.

I had asked to see the adjuster and inquire where she had seen frame damage. I was given excuses why she could not meet me in the lobby.

The company did not have a loaner or rental as promised. This is the second time I’ve came to a Carmax and had poor customer service. It’s irritating that EVERYTIME that an older white man handles my needs. I’m always sitting in the building all day because they just don’t like me.

I walked into the Carmax in Fredrick MD 5601 Urbana pk ; and I was immediately looked up and down and almost denied service. Don (the salesman) lied and told me that my ID was expired which it was not, so I was not allowed to test drive the vehicle that I wanted.

Looking for the right car is a mission in itself and once you find a cra nd fall in love with it .. then you feel complete. We bought a car from carmax capitol expressway and they had informed us that one of the features was apple play but once we took the car home we realized they were wrong.

We took the car back the next day so that they could help us with this huge error on their part. Spoke with the sales rep and manager but they were not willing to do anything except change the car to a different one.

Now why would I do that after I finally found the car I wanted and the entire loan process was completed. They should have given me the apple car play for free or given me the funds to install it since they misinformed me during purchase time.

I made an appointment to test drive a car early this morning. When I arrived there seemed to be sales associates walking around but no one spoke to me for 10 min. I was finally asked to sit down at an open computer and that I was number one in line.

Someone walked in behind me and was told that they were busy and would have a little bit of wait. Less than 10 mins later an associate sat down with them while I still waited at my computer. Frustrated, I went to ask 3 other sales associates that were standing around a desk, and they said that person came in early.

Even though I heard the earlier conversation. I would give the centennial store one star if it were possible.

Hullen Mall Fort Worth. This is the worst CARMAX location in Texas. They refused to allow my black husband to test drive because they claimed to not be able to validate his license. No mention of the requirement to validate before attempting to test drive.

We weren’t even going to test drive at first but I suggested to my husband that he should. So we wait around for 30 minutes after signing a form and giving his license, and they come back with a sorry a** excuse and wouldn’t let him test drive.

Basically, they made him out to be a criminal with a fake license and wouldn’t allow him or me to test drive the car. The sales rep just walked away after the business manager told me that I couldn’t test drive either as if the sale was over and we needed to leave.

CarMax is a company that has no compassion for it’s customers. After providing a reduced hours letter to CarMax, never was in jeopardy of repossession, on time payments of 2 years and since have paid my car off in full; they chose to destroy my credit with three late reporting.

The CARES ACT have provided ways for big companies to help their customers not destroy them. CarMax chose to destroy my credit report.

When I purchased my used 2016 fiat 500X from CarMax I voiced concern about the stuttering in the brakes. The gentleman that I spoke to made me feel bad for asking and said they wouldn’t sell the car if something was wrong with the brakes.

But I knew better even though I didn’t pursue it because being a woman I don’t feel I am heard at dealerships or that I’m taken seriously with mechanics. I depended on CarMax to sell me a vehicle that was functional and today I finally had money to bring my car to a mechanic and I found out ALL 4 rotors are a mess and should have been replaced when the brakes were changed last time.

That would have taken place with the previous owner or the dealership. This CarMax misstep cost me almost $1000.

I made an appointment to test drive a vehicle for the 2 o’clock time. I arrive 10 minutes early. The representative did little to acknowledge that I was there. I told the representative that I had a 2 o’clock appointment.

I was told to wait outside. Around 2:05pm I went inside to confirm that I had a 2 o’clock appointment. The rep looked surprised and asked what am I here for? I have the appointment when they looked me up they should have known.

Tells me they didn’t even look me up. Now they said I have to wait until 3:00pm. What’s the point of making an appointment if you cannot honor the time frame... Horrible service for the Modesto Branch.

Dropped of my car for a check engine light they misdiagnosed my car they told me it was a faulty censor and that it was fixed but still wanted me to keep it there over night for observation and they took it out for multiple drives without them knowing I can track my car and they drove it for nearly 100 miles. When I went to pick up my car the service department front desk was surprised I knew they were driving my car around and the check engine light was still there

So I showed up 15 minutes early. , when we went outside to see the vehicle David could find it, I waited around 30 minutes for David to tell me that the car had been lended to someone for the weekend.

I was very disappointed to hear that, because I specifically made an appointment and was told the vehicle was there. I live 40 minutes so this was an inconvenience. The manager didn't even talk to me to apologize he just walked away and let David take it.

This was my first time at carmax and it was a bad experience, I was really looking forward to going home with my vehicle.
