Duke energy frequently has power outages in my neighborhood for long periods of times. It seems to happen every couple of months and we aren’t always given a reason why. This latest outage that apparently started around 11pm at night on 12/15/2022 and is still currently going on past 8am in the morning.

This is winter time in NC with temperatures at or near freezing level with no electricity. The current outage is affecting only this neighborhood with over 500 people without power. I have a sick child and I work nightshift at a hospital.

It really sucks to have to leave your kids at home with no power as frequently as I have to and I’m paying for this type of service.

Duke charged outrageous fees and automatically kept extensions on my account without notifying. Extensions were not agreed upon and then Duke scheduled shut off unless $4,000 paid immediately. Horrible service and can never speak to anyone in charge nor get answers.

My name is Jimmy Treadway. I live at 105 Fowler holler way, swannanoa, North Carolina 28778. I am reaching out because my service has been disconnected by Duke energy progress. I have two underage children in the home plus I am on disability. I am disabled.

I have shown the proof and sent in many forms and letters and talk to several people and resource programs. The resources have just sent me in circles and I have not gotten any help at all so I have been almost a full week without power.

To my understanding anyone that qualified for the moratorium program or whatever it is was not able to have their lights cut off from November through March. I was also supposed to be receiving the disability rate. My disability only pays me $684 monthly.

I do not know how I am supposed to pay a bill…

Due to budget billing. I live in housing raising two children and was in a motorcycle accident on August 25. but I will I always thought you had till the end of the bissess day to make good on your agreement.

Duke Energy installed a temporary above-ground power cable on my residential property and said it would replace it with a new, permanent, underground cable within 2 weeks. That was more than a month ago. In spite of numerous requests to Duke and its assurances it would be done, the temporary cable remains on our property.

we are working on 181 Dryden place, brooksville Florida 34601. we are remodeling 60 apartment complex. a proximal 6 units per buildings. wen we pass inspection take 10 to 15 times to email the power Release to Duke Energy and they keep say , they have not release the permit > -We call from the city of brooksville and email them the release , still -Duke say never receive the form.

-Take 3 weeks calling 5 times a day for 15 day in a row. for Duke to get the Release . (they put me close to 30 day wait to get power !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is ridiculous. Today Wednesday 30 2022 .

on budget billing so i wouldnt get unexpected bill. was told they made a mistake callculating my account quarterly so now i owe 2571$ thos program says no end of year payup and im being charged for their mistake. 88 to cover my 3 accounts. I wrote all 3 acct # on the checks and inserted the bills for those accts. In November I received my bill and realized that one of the acct had not been credited. I contacted Duke and spoke with "Renae" she assured me after about 1 hour on the phone that the issue would be fixed but to call back on Thursday to make sure.

I called on Thursday and my wife and I spoke with Anquita, Julia, Rudy and spent about 1hr and 53 minutes on the phone. Rudy was a supervisor and could not clear it up. He told me to contact the bank and submit a copy of the check.

I contacted the bank and was told they did not have the check because it was electronically submitted, I called back to Duke with the info. I was then told to call the bank again and ask for a transmittal form.

I was told that I had another account with my apartment that I was unaware of, and had apparently been paying on the wrong account that was assigned to my profile. I was informed the case would be reviewed and my current apartment power would stay on till further notice.

Days later, my power gets shut off and im told that it was never the case and forced to pay the entire balance on an account I never had access to to get my power back even though I have a case ongoing investigation. Literally the worst company ever and for Jenna, the person who assured my power would be fine with a lock on my account, Fuck you and I hope you suffer for the rest of your days

Very poor customer service from an Agent name Marie. Agent basically denied who I was after I verified info on the account several times. Agents need to be trained you can not discriminate against someone because they don't sound how you think they should sound.

Requested a manager and took 6 minutes on hold while she stated she was notating account. The worst company EVER!

17 bill that I was trying to pay with duke. Instead they received a check for $7,817. This happened in September I have been trying to get this money refunded to me ever since I have been given excuse after excuse first told that they sent it to the wrong address two times now I've been told that it was cashed on November 4th I never received the check I did not cash a check I want my $7,738 that is remaining.

I spoke to two different agents both gave me the same information. Come to find out there both wrong. I spoke with Mecca. She is so very dry and not understanding and condescending. I understand I haven't been the perfect customer but I lost my car two hurricane Ian and I am going through a divorce.

Bottom line, this company is HORRIBLE!! In October they took $1070 from our account to pay that months bill which was $356. We asked for a refund and got denied that refund. They then came to our house to check meters, without a heads up and shut all the power off to our house, twice.

Part of our house wouldn’t turn back on. We brought that up and was told to call an electrician. So they sent someone out to knock out all of our power, one room wouldn’t come back on and we are told to pay an electrician to fix a problem they caused. Horrendous company!

I explained to them how urgent we needed power for health reasons in household. My power was cut off over weekend because I don’t have a smart meter they have to manually come out and I’ve been told all day someone would be out and no one came.

The lady supervisor was nasty with me. They left us in the dark due to something beyond my control medicine and food had gone bad sn no one will come out or help I’ve spoken to about ten people

I was a victim of a scam call in March. By June, my account was delinquent. After switching banks and security measures, I finally got control of the situation. Through a payment plan, I was able to make 2 consecutive payments in August and September, using both online and phone payment options.

My payment, due October 15th would have made my account paid up. On the 8th of October, I was denied access to pay online and over the phone. Due to a phantom card decline, my account became cash only. I was informed I would have to pay over 400 dollars cash in one of several locations around, if grocery stores.

I was also informed that I would have to do this for 12 consecutive months. After contacting Duke energy, it was relayed to me that the phantom card decline, was not matched to any cards…

Horrible company, we are going through an inflation and they refuse to work with their customers on payment arrangements. If u are late 2 times on a payment arrangement they will not allow to to be on a payment plan for a yr.

Which means ur left to go to government programs which are swamped with zero resources to help. You either pay their ridiculously high bill or have no power. Just unbelievable! Never seen a company so unwilling to work with their customers.

This past summer, in 90 + temperatures, Duke Energy turned off my HVAC to preserve energy. I have since dropped out of this program. I was not informed that my system was being shut down, and called my HVAC contractor and was charged $100 only to be told there was nothing wrong with my system and Duke was responsible.

I called and spoke with numerous representatives about getting a refund for this inconvenience. A case was started, I was contacted by a gentleman that said he needed to inspect the system and then I would hear back from the man's supervisor.

i did not hear back from anyone, and my follow up calls were ignored. I filed a claim with Sedwick and still never heard a word from Duke Energy. I am appalled at the lack of customer support shown to me.

Mr. Martin,

I met with an engineer ON SITE, several years ago and there was not a simple solution unless I obtained a 2nd designated address to the property from Marion County.

I have now completed that and I have "2" addresses at the property. Now that I can have a separate meter, as the previous ON SITE VISIT by and ENGINEER told me, things should be easier.

THIS IS NOT A NEW CONSTRUCTION.

I need an engineer to come ON SITE so that we can discuss IF AND HOW the power can be run.

I cannot get an ACCOUNT NUMBER as this is NOT NEW CONSTRUCTION.

Months ago, Duke Energy, in their infinite wisdom, decided to not only revamp their website, but also instituted all new account numbers. We manage multi family housing. Their new website is a nightmare; for months, it was hit and miss on being able to access it. When you could access it, you had to go to three different pages within the website to get all the bills. And print them! IF you pay at their website, you do not get a confirmation number. So I had to set up all new accounts at our banking site so I could pay them ..... took hours!

I called customer service several times indicating I wanted paper bills in the future for all the properties we manage. It took me several months to get one property under control. I still have another one that they ignore my requests for paper bills.…

We lost power on Wednesday at 3:30 pm BEFORE THE HURRICANE STARTED. We reported it immediately. Our entire subdivision has power except two streets since Wednesday. Several of us text, called and asked to get power back before the storm hit. NOTHING.

Now we are being told it will be Sunday which is 5 days. We are not in a hard hit area and it is amazing how they always manage to get us the bill on time and charge a late fee if we are a second late paying but we never get good service! They need new management!

We NEED POWER WORKING SINCE WE PAY HIGHLY FOR IT; INCREASED RECENTLY FOR NO REASON! THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Many of us are older and retired; we do not have a lot of resources.

On August 18, 2021,Duke Energy hired a private contractor to repair underground electrical lines at my residential property. I was not present when the work was done but when I returned I found the main water line to be damaged.

Consequently, the water had to be shut off at the meter and my home has not had water since September 10th. Not only is this an inconvenience but it's a health hazard. I have filed a claim with Sedgwick and PUCO.

It appears that Sedgwick is in no hurry to resolve the issue. Therefore , I will take whatever action necessary to expedite resolution including contacting the media.

I have been trying to get my account balance fixed for 2 months. 58. This was a billing mistake that happened when Cincinnati Bell Energy sent in my charge and it got put on top of my budget billing by Duke Energy instead of going through my budget billing.

I am extremely frustrated that this is taking so long to resolve. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone over this and everyone seems to know the mistake, but no one can fix the mistake which I find maddening.

I keep being told it will take 5 business days to fix. 2 months later it is still messed up. So, I have decided I am going to send this email 2 times a day through the customer service portal until this matter gets resolved. S.

Duke placed a LARGE steel transmission pole right in my yard and I as the homeowner was never contacted.

It started with a simple, Address Correction request. It's been going on for months now with my sister/neighbor being billed for my bills and me billed for hers. Now they have no records of us but we are still being billed wrongly.

Resulted in them shutting my power off once for a day and half and I am on breathing treatment machine. Duke says something different every time we call. This morning my sister received 4 duke bills, 2 for each address, total in thousands of dollars.

My sister filed a complaint about 3 weeks ago with the State but haven't heard anything yet. One Duke Tech says that they recently upgraded to a new system and the have lost our accounts, but they are still billings us,,,,,,, mine now says 0 due and my sisters is 2 or 3 thousand dollars.

I contracted a tree service to cut down trees on my property and was told we needed a line drop , I gave Duke a 3 day notice and was told I had the 12 to 2 slot they did not show, I called them and they told me I could get a now order but it would cost me, but would not tell me how much on 25 july, this is horrible I did nothing wrong , I was assured of the slot yet no help from Duke, what a lousy outfit which cost me for the tree cutter to come back thank Duke ci appreciate all you do for us consumers out here

Duke Energy threatened to disconnect my service after paying $1500 towards my account for $77. When I called customer service to resolve error Agent Jason Denieva refused to assist or transfer me to supervisor for assistance. He did tell me he would get rid of me & end my service.

I’m in fear for my life & I DO NOT trust the agents they are employing. Especially after he threatened me.

Our power is constantly out ! And it’s only on our street. 22 people are effected! There has to be a bad transformer somewhere! My son has medical issues and has to use oxygen! It’s just our street and everyone else around us is ok!!

Please do not use privately owned fencing outside of the power line easement for survey markers. The fence is posted and cameras are installed. You are not welcome to use my property. After the destruction left in the trail of your joyriding employees in their SHERP, I was forced to install fencing to retain any use of my property.

I don't know who reads these but Duke Energy especially SC is the worst. Power is always going down for no reason and it's getting worse. As power plants become shuttered and no new ones are not built it will be really bad.

Oh sure they will say they are preparing with solar, wind etc but really it won't work. Power is out right now on a beautiful but hot day. Stay away from South Carolina if you can.

Duke/Progress has been charging me for 2 poles and 2 outdoor lights for 12 + years. Only one pole and light was actually a Duke/Progress outdoor light. The 2nd light and was actually attached to my garage and hooked up directly to my fuse box and the pole for this light does not existed.

While I have to accept a certain amount of responsibility for not knowing that it was my light and not Duke's, despite the fixture looking identical to the fixture on the pole. That being said, both Progress and Duke have come out to replace the bulb in that exact light on two occasions.

So, not only did I not realize that the light in question was hooked up to my fuse box, but Duke/Progress didn't realize that fact as well. Duke is only willing to credit 3 years of this mistake. As I said, I have to…

I called to set up service in new apartment, easy. Move in date was delayed, I called Duke TWICE to tell them to delay start date. They started service anyways (CALLED TWICE TO DELAY THE START AND GOT CONFIRMATION FOR THE DELAY) Duke started service anyways and I had to completely end service in order for Duke to stop the service.

I now I have $120 service bill and I STILL HAVE MOT MOVED INTO THE APARTMENT

I am in the process of selling my parents house. The house is empty. When the electricity was turned on at the home, I asked Duke Energy to send the bill to my address, not the address of the home I’m selling.

Duke Energy did not send the bill to my address but sent it to the empty house. Now Duke Energy is stating that I owe $180 dollars. I don’t feel like I should have to pay that full amount because I was not receiving the billing statement.

Yes my power went out at 9:30am this morning February 29th. I called to report the outage. They said it would be back on by 1:30pm. Now that report it will be on by 5pm. I spoke with customer service and explained that I require oxygen for my breathing.

And they told me to go to the hospital. I also require using an nebulizer breathing medicine machine every 4 hours, which I explained this to your customer service personnel on the phone. And it didn't seem to make an difference to them.

Months ago I called an Duke Energy told me that they would mail me the forms for my doctor to complete so it would be on file with my account information. I never have received any forms to fill out.

I have been without power for two days and went to stay with a relative so I could work at my job (which is a work from home position). I signed up for notification when power was restored but never received any updates. When I called and spoke with customer service rep this afternoon she couldn't tell if my power was on or off. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? She suggested I call and check with a neighbor. (Fire this fool!) Then I received a robo call from duke energy saying there was delay and power would not be restored till the next day. I drove 30 minutes home to pick up more clothes and found out my power was ON and had been on for some time as the house was very warm.

Only a utility company with a monopoly on service could get away with this lousy customer service. How can they charge me for…
