I have had my account with 5/3 bank every since I was 16. My mother chose this bank for me and I decided to keep it for that reason. I am leaving this bank ASAP because I deposited a cashiers check into the bank and they explained to me that they have to hold a guaranteed check for 10 days to make sure it clears.

I have never heard of a guaranteed check needing to clear, it’s guaranteed. I was then told that it’s at the discretion of the branch. They insulted me further by telling to get a letter from the remitted proving that they had money in the account.

I brought the person back to the bank and they said we still have to hold the check. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I have a lot of banking years to come but it won’t be with this company.

I am a Fifth Third Customer with 3 accounts in "Good Standing". I had filed for a "Loan Modification" for my vehicle because of "Disability" and financial problems. After an evaluation of my complete "Income To Debt" ratio, I had approximately $352.00 remaining plus I receive $ 235.00 Food, and $60.00 separately from that from the State Of Illinois. My Credit Portfolio is "Excellent" account mixes of at least 2 1/2 running with "NO MISSED PAYMENTS" and "Myfico scores "Mid- 700's across the board!!! However 5/3 Loan Modification department has "Failed" me. They "Denied" me a modification once again for "NO GOOD REASON". {Plus The Black Book value On The car is very low at this point with the mileage on the vehicle at 198564 plus, The vehicle has "Depreciated Exponentially"!!!

I paid off a motorcycle loan through fifth third bank and requested the title that they were holding during the length of the loan.

They told me they didn't have the title and I would have to go to the dmv and request another one.

It cost me $51.13 to get a copy of my title. Fifth third bank would not reimburse me or even deduct that amount from my last payment.

It was not my fault they lost the original title.

I will not be banking with fifth third bank again.

5/3 Bank filed to properly apply my June 2021 mortgage payment to my account and reported my account as being 30 days past due. Despite serval attempts to have the matter corrected over the phone, and getting a letter stating that they would fix it, they have NOT yet reported the payment accurately.

They have done this sort of thing repeatedly, during the life of the loan and I suspect have done this to other Black and Latino customers. Undermining our ability to have real financial free and upward mobility by diminishing our credit worthiness. If so, this is a pattern of behavior that must STOP.

First off, 1 star is 3 too many. 5 hours trying to reach someone at the "customer service" number of 800-972-3030 before their system dropped me. Somehow, while waiting, the call went into a voice mail system that required a mailbox number.

I called back in, the system asked for an account number (entered it) then last 4 of SSN (entered it). Then the system asked for this info AGAIN!! WTH!! Customer Service at 5/3 is 167% ROTTEN!!

I would like to speak to someone who is a manager of the bank protection team. You see, I used to have a checking account in good standing at Fifth Third Bank a while ago. But then I fell upon very hard times for a long while.

I was once looking for loans online because I was desperate for a loan. I did not realize then that most of those types of loans are not legit! I was so desparate because I was abused financially and emotionally abused by my husband.

The branch manager in Perimeter Dr in Dublin, OH, Darren, is awful. I am a trustee for my parents’ estate. I have paperwork stating that, and proof that the checking account was to be set up that way 7 years ago.

Unfortunately, the person who set it up no longer works there. Darren told me your paperwork was “lost” and it didn’t matter that I had paperwork proving differently. Because your company lost paperwork which should have been scanned in, my original documents apparently don’t matter.

I have been trying to replace my credit card for TWO AND A HALF YEARS! they have zero attempts shown since 2019 and I just called a few months ago to attempt replacing it again and what did they send in today? a new card for the wrong account! So, 2.5 years to replace a card and they still send me the wrong card.

They also have a history of blocking my card when I travel even though I call in advanced to let them know that I'm traveling. I've been left stranded in random cities before because they won't unblock it.

So a few month ago, I found out that the Fifth Third credit card that was supposed to be my overdraft protection, was closed due to non use. No one at Fifth Third bothered to send me a notice. SO I had to apply for another credit card to cover any overdrafts.

The 5/3 idiot who took my application over the phone— and the male who did it knew EXACTLY why I was applying for such BECAUSE he suggested it — NOW I am told by 5/3 that my new credit card could not be used for my overdraft because it was processed in another state (ie Ohio). SO i would have to apply for yet ANOTHER credit card for any overdraft protection.

SO i have to screw up my FICO score by applying for ANOTHER credit card because of a mistake by 5/3 — AND I cannot close that credit card PLUS still not having overdraft…

This bank is deplorable. You get all kinds of lip service but never any reply for an answer. They promise alot but never come thru on any of them. They change things about your account and don't bother telling you.

There on line app can't even keep you balance correctly which leads to problems and when you call you get we will look into it and call you back only the call never comes.

My teenage son, an established 5th/3rd Bank customer with a checking account deposit his first pay check from his first part-time job. After making the deposit, he was told that the funds would be available the next day. On the next day, the funds were still on hold (500. 00 deposit).

After speaking with several customer service supervisors, we were told that the funds were on hold for an additional 6 days because this was his first check! No one at the branch where we deposited the check shared this information and unfortunately, none of the supervisors at 5th/3rd Bank are entrusted with supervisory skills that allows them to override a computer.

My card was cancelled due to so called fraud. The fraud department only blocked it ! Someone else cancelled it and didn't notify me . Its very embarrassing when your in a grocery store and find out your card is not good at checkout !!!

I can understand locking a card after a few transactions but putting a limit on how many times you can use a card whether it declines or not is competely bullshit There are people out there such as myself who do not have any other sources but their bank card.

How's anyone supposed to pay bills or go buy food when their card is locked for 24 hours? That can be considered illegal. It's my money and you're preventing me from using it.

Never take a loan from 53rd bank. Bad experience with the customer service and their system. Two times the service people abruptly hung up on my call. My loan payments go electronically from my bank every month. When they increased the payments they put my regular payments in Unapplied area and sent a letter.

I paid the the difference on the phone but the bank personnel forgot to move the funds from Unapplied area and therefore, created a delinquent payment and reported the Credit bureau agencies. When I called, the personnel saying that they never received my payment and they do not keep the history of payments, history of phone calls or payments over the phone.

M. I was calling about an Issue with the disputed charge on my debit card. I selected the option for the extension for disputing charges, and the man who took my call had an extremely rude tone of voice and raise their voice when they realised that my issue is with my checking account in the card linked to it, and not a credit card.

They said that the department for cards linked to checking accounts had closed.

However, there was no separate option to distinguish between checking and credit, there is only one choice for disputing charges, and I had no way of knowing this, nor did I have any way of knowing that one type of card could be helped after 5:00, but another could not be helped after that time.

We applied for a home equity loan on 3/19/2020 and were finally approved on 7/10/2020 and set up closing for 7/29/2020 at 9 am local branch. I also was required to open an account before closing to get the rate they promised so we did and set up direct debt.

Then less than 48 hours before the closing at 3:19 pm on 7/27/2020 received an email saying we had been denied for the loan due to bank changing there guidelines. I have reached out in email and by phone everyday since and have not gotten a response from anyone.

I also now must go to a local branch to close the bank account and get my money out. We just don't understand how we are grandfathered in since the process took so long on there part not ours.

I rate my experience a zero but thats not even an option. I called to ask why I received a delinquent notice in the mail when I had already paid on time, I spoke with Marvin in the Loan Installment department who was extremely helpful and very polite!!!

My homeowners insurance was canceled because you did not pay it out of my escrow. I had to get new insurance and you still have not paid that. Your records are saying my loan was canceled then that it is a second mortgage and you do not escrow that. My mortgage started with MB Financial, you took it over and everything was fine. I've been able to cash a check at Fifth Third Bank for years through our business account without any kind of service fee. My partner in business has an account there and that is why we could cash a business check there.

But the Trenton branch in Ohio has a new manager that is very rude and didn't want to work with me as a customer whatsoever. Wanted you to know what a jerk he was to me and didn't have any other Alternatives but tell me to leave the bank if I didn't like it.

This bank is the worst. I have direct deposits of over 60k per year coming into my account. They are sooo far behind the others. ATM taking money, bad dispute department that doesn’t dispute free associated with fraud charges.

I had a check that was deposited 8 days ago from another bank. Personally called issued bank I was told check cleared on there end. For some reason after different agents telling me a different story each call (6 times) my bank (Fifth/Third) decided there putting a hold on deposit and now has my account doing a domino effect at the same time they are charging me the customer fees.

This is what I call fraud! The sad thing about it this is not the first time. Really about to bank somewhere else, sad thing about it was they started out good and went from sugar to crap.

I was just in your Carmel Road branch in Charlotte. I was trying to help my daughter in law and her mother help them to get answers concerning a husbands bank account that just died. They had all of the documents from the court system that was told to them from this branch.

The manager did not seem to have a clue as to what he was doing and when I tried to show him the documents he got very ugly with me and kicked me out of his office. My daughter in laws mother has dementia is the reason I was there to help.

I worked in the banking system for many years as well have had to deal with banks over my own experiences with death and finalizing so I know quite a bit about these procedures. Apparently a lot more than your store manager.

Everytime I go to the bank the tellers are always asking me why am I taking out money and why do I need to take out so much and how often like really this is what I worked my whole life for. To be able to enjoy my money and I'm very uoset because I ordered a bank card so I can just use my card for what ever I need and the bank goes and shut down my card.

I was happy with MB Financial and its’ customer service for 30 years. Then 5/3 Bank bought MB in May 2019. Ugh. Experiences so far: I had to take emergency cash out of a non network ATM. The fee was $3.00. Then I was shocked that my new 5/3 bank charges me another $2.75! A shock because MB never added on a fee! How about a grace period for your former MB customers to learn your ways, 5/3?!

I’ve made an overpayment. I’ve called customer service and requested money to be moved around. I had a credit and was told to call when I made a payment. The credit was going to be applied towards the monthly payment.

I’ve called several times and received letters stating my request.

However, my new statement was available and I have a missing payment and a late fee.

I received my new auto payment book after the late date. I tried for 3 hours to contact someone at 53 bank to setup an online account to pay amount due. they would give me a temp acc ID, then would transfer me to another line to create a temp password.

this would put me on hold for 20 min then phone line would disconnect. tried this 8 times. no other option to contact anyone that could help. I had to pay $15 extra to pay amount due by phone. very poor service.

I was misinformed again this is the 2nd major problem in a couple of weeks. I called and asked not to let a bogus payment go through today I did online. I spoke with a Mya she said no worries it would not show up they would stop it.

Well they didn't stop it and its showing as pending now they tell me I have to wait to see if it goes through. If it does get processed I have to dispute it. That's not right I called and she assured me it would not show up on my account.

This is by far the worst bank I’ve ever had, they deducted money from my account and for some reason they are unable to see the image of the check. What doesn’t make sense is the fact that I never had checks or used checks with them.

Every time I call they tell me to give them an extension 2-3 business days. I’ve been very patient but don’t give me your word and tell me it’s going to be resolved this day and still not have an answer these calls are being recorded so I’m sure they know they are giving false information to the customer.

It’s been a month and I still don’t have an answer or my money back!

FINALLY, WE CALL ON 06/14 AND THEY STATE IT WAS A MISTAKE ON THEIR PART. WE REQUESTED A SKIP PAY SINCE IT IS THERE FAULT AND TO RESUME ON 07/01. THEY SAY THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. DO NOT TAKE A LOAN THROUGH THIS BANK YOU WILL BE SORRY.
