I filed with H&R Block for 2019 using their website, as I have done for 5 years now.
However this time I made a mistake with one of my employers addresses and the IRS caught it. I received a letter from them yesterday. I have been attempting to chat with online multiple times, call their 800 number with hold times of 120 mins.
While freaking out because now there is a possible 60 plus day hold on my tax refund while they review it, attempt 5 I finally got a rep through the chat option. Either they are not American, are illiterate or the script options are jacked up.
This woman did not acknowledge the initial question I had. Gave me someone else's info and when I questioned her she said to disregard previous message.
Finally said I need to mail a check to the IRS in the amount of $3000…
My rep at H&R got .me penalties of up to 700.00 reducing my refund to 1145.00 after there fees an such. I called today and the just gave me the department of treasury office number that didn't have anything to do with it it was the rep and I want reimbursed
My father has used H&R Block since 1997, we moved 1500 miles away from the office that did last years taxes and some boxes were lost. In order to get a copy of his 2018 tax forms, we were told to create an account online.
Once we did that and tried to verify his identy, the system rejected him. After over an hour on the phone with four different people, they said, "Did you use capital letters". I explained that I had tried that and entered his information the same way as it had always been on his taxes and that I was looking for a copy of his 2018 taxes.
Then she said your have to enter it as it is on his 2018 forms. I said, I am trying to get a copy of those forms. Having his first name, middle initial, last name and suffix, SSN and date of birth is not enough.

I filed my taxes with H&R block. The bank account that I had used when I filed was closed out. I then call H&R block to tell them. I was then advised by H&R block to go into an office where I live.
H&R block even made the appointment for me. I go into an office. H&R block had told me that I need to go get an Emerald Card so that my taxes can be sent to the Card and not to that bank account.
Well my taxes came in today and we're not sent to the card but to the closed out account. They bounced me around and transfers from one department to the next. Some of the people like 3 of them just hung up on me.
All I want is for H&R block to do is put my taxes on the card that they made me go get.
I have used H&R Block tax software for the last 3 years or more. This year I purchased as usual, loaded the software and tried to complete my taxes and got a message that said the forms necessary were not ready and I had to call in after March 5th. So, I did my girlfriends very simple taxes, standard file with one K-1. Got the same message.
I am not very happy that you would have me pay for software, in advance, that was not ready to perform the task it is supposed to. I now have no choice but to wait till March 5th and HOPE that I can file then. If not you will be hearing from me by phone.
You can bet your last dollar that I will not use H&R Block next year.

After 10 years of ysing this service this will most likely be the last time i go to them to file my taxes. I have always had their fees taken out of my federal as opposed to my state return every year because its larger.
Now this year, without being informed, i find they take out their fees from whichever return comes first, which means in case of this year i lose 100% of my state return and i still lose some money on my federal. Im taking a massive financial hit because i anticipated getting my state return and promised that money towards bills that needed attention.
Now i am in a deeper hold because of a policy change i was not informed of. Turbo tax is now the better option.
The tax preparer was nice, however, her mistake created an inconvenience; in getting my return. I am now in the process of getting my tax returns amended. Here's my thing, If I were told in the very beginning that she didn't have experience in filing my particular return, I would not have used HR Block for the first and last time.
I spoke to the office manger (James) who in my mind really wasn't listening to my concern, it became obvious that I wasn't going to get my filing fee returned even if I was their mistake and my inconvenience. James marginalized my concern and time, telling me that "you just going to have to wait a little bit longer for your return, that's all, no big deal" - Maybe not to him, but to me, it is a big deal.

I would just like to know what your policy is. My husband filed out taxes with your company. I did not go with him at the time. When he came home I asked him for the papers to sign he told me they allowed him to sign for me.
Is this your regular practice? If it is it shouldn’t be. My husband and I are fine in our marriage but I don’t appreciate someone allowing him to sign these tax form for me without my knowledge. I was never asked by the preparer if I would allow him to do that.

Actually service may have been 5 stars BUT I was charged $377+ $244+ $244 for 3 years I was told I DID NOT have to report because my Self Employment income was under $6000 a year! AARP does the same forms for zero $ and my rep would NOT give me my EIC as that would be $45 more????
Fees were a massacre to my very limited income and an insult to my intelligence (which is FAR higher than my income) It took all of FIFTEEN MINUTES to do each year. so 45 minutes for $865???? Everyone I know says a REAL CPA doesn't charge $865 with more income and deductions-my rep GAVE ME NO OPTION for deductions!

If I could give a zero I would. This company portrays to help you and give you the best out come. But really they try to pull as much of your tax money as they can off of those they "think" that they are getting help by getting the emerald advance line of Credit.
I received an emerald advance line of credit during the holiday months. It was due to be paid through my tax refund by 2-15-20. At my appointment to do our taxes on 2-15-20 our emerald advance line of credit was paid through our tax refund and brought it to a zero balance that day.
I was offered by my tax preparer to apply for a Advance Refund, that it was free of charge and just an advance on my tax refund. H&R Block TOOK THE MONEY OFF OF THE ADVANCE REFUND TWO DAYS AFTER I WAS APPROVED!

Although your online associates did try to help me, I've gotten no satisfactory answer.
The IRS told me my return was sent on the 5th, and to check my bank on the 10th. As my return goes to H&R block first to take out their fees, I checked with H&R on the 10th. I was told to check back on the 13th-14th. I did so and was told to check back on the 18th. I just did that and now am told check on the 22nd.
I do not understand how the IRS sends a return on the 5th and H&R block does not have it yet.
I was given a case number for a supervisor/manager to call me but was told this could take 72 hours.
This is unacceptable.
I want to file a complaint on the Canton GA Riverstone tax prep on Carl Rudolph he is the one who prepared my taxes and Ariel the receptionist who first off gave me false information over the phone I ask her how much it would cost to file 1 W2 and I had 3 kids she said oh it will be under a $100 bucks I told her I filed with HR last year and it cost me $400 and I was not paying that again so

My wife and I had an appointment on Feb 5 with Bernard Effler. Although he seemed knowledgeable, he nodded off at least 3 times during our 1 hour and 30 minute appointment. In addition, another co-worker was very loud when talking on the phone with her client(s).

Very unprofessional!! I walked in the "H&R Block" at 1015am to write my name in the clipboard, I said good morning to the secretary and sat down. She didnt say anything, after a while people keep coming in asking her when will "he" come in. She got up went to hide in another room. People kept coming in speaking about they been waiting since it open at 8am. It's now 11am, another secretary came in and the one who was hiding ran to greet the new arrived one and started loudly complaining how hard it was to deal with people and answering the phone (basically doing HER job) because WE ask her too many questions. Lisa and barb provento were very rude called us telling us we filed OUR CHILD illegally which is 100% false and hung up on us wouldn’t let us speak when I called back and spoke with the MANAGER Lisa who basically told us she couldn’t do anything about it.
The person doing my tax preparations is not very good at her job. I also feel like she has completely ripped me off. I was charged over $600 to do my 2018, and 2019 taxes. There was only one w2 for 2019 and like 4 for 2018.

I bought their deluxe software on Dec 9, 2019, download. I was unable to import any date into the software. Wealthfront is not supported. It also would not import my W-2. After 2 hours of trying to reach support, and manually put in my data, I bought Turbo Tax and completed my taxes in about 20 minutes.
Online help is nonexistent, and to talk with a person was 20+ minute wait. 00 more then the worthless HR Block software. A total waste of my time, and money.

I had a client come in today who were unable to finish their California efile return using our online software. I researched the problem and found that we are still showing California 540EZ returns for 2019 as unapproved and unable to file. However, the California Franchise Tax Board website shows downloadable 540EZ returns to be used for tax filing.
Is California ready for efiling using our online software? If not, when will it be ready?
Why does HR BLOCK charge you for filing any extra forms on line? I thought e-filing was free. I SHOLD get my FULL refund without their geedy little hand taking some of it for their profit and stockholders.
One of (H&R Block ) workers took our information with her after she is no longer with the company text my husband phone telling us her new location and more ! Yes I, am highly pissed off do to us not knowing how much of our information she done took !

My return was transmitted via H&R Block ("HRB") Deluxe Federal software CD on 1/31/2020 and it showed status as "Pending" for over a week until 2/11/2020. Interimly, I contacted HRB and was told heavy e-file submissions to the IRS was the problem.
I then called the IRS directly to learn my return was rejected due to missing forms that were not transmitted by HRB. After further communication with HRB, they finally fessed up and informed me that some of their forms were not updated and the software had flaws that would be fixed with the 2/14/2020 update.
Needless to say, I was so stressed out, I vowed never to trust this software again.

I submitted my return early in January 20th. On January 21st I received an email stating they needed additional information. I called on that same day only to be told that “a bunch of emails went out by mistake and they didn’t need anything from me”.
My status continued to show pending and I contacted customer service 2 more times. Only to be told “this was normal “ On 2/9 I contacted them again only to be told my return had been “suspended “ and I needed to speak to another department.
I was promptly transferred and hung up on. I called again 2/10 to finally get a straight answer from someone who actually took the time to check on my account. It was actually e-filed today, 3 weeks later , when I had purposely done this early to avoid the mad rush.

I think my taxes were recently filed wrong. I was told I should get back $1,501 in federal tax returns. It isn't much different than last year when I received a lot less money. When I went back to ask for a more detailed explanation I was given a run around argument that didn't explain anything.
I just left, realizing this wasn't going to get me anywhere. Since I'm a member I went to the H&R Block website and did the estimate your tax return program and it calculated that I should get back &2,321. The information is the same.
I'm single, no dependents, no other income, stocks, etc. It seems right since I made so much more this year. I don't know about the state tax being right or not. What can I do, now? I did the survey they sent out and told them about the problem.

I purchased the tax software CD at a local retailer. The CD would not load on my computer but I was able to download it off the Internet using the code in the CD jacket. After inputting my tax info the software program me that I was not eligible for the EIC because I was not a citizen.
(Which Iof course am a citizen) I spent several hours trying to figure out how to correct the problem before contacting support. Support was totally useless. After more than literally 6 hours of dealing with mostly nice but clueless people I gave up.

They lost one of my w2s and then told me I didnt give it to them. He then wouldnt give me back the other 2. When I tried to call and complain they said it's my word against his. So they basically called me a liar and said I had to find my other w2.
Yesterday I attempted to download your Deluxe & State software using the CD you mailed me. It failed. I then attempted to download using the from hrbconnect.com/WALNUT. The wed site was very flaky, but after many attempts, I order the product. During the process the site offered my an additional discount of $5.00. After entering my credit card info., the site hung, and the transaction failed.
After many attempts and long holds, I talked to a service rep. She walked me through ordering on you web site. The order was completed and she told me the price was $24.95. I downloaded the program, but have not installed it.
I checked my credit card, and it showed a charge of $55.28. I will dispute this charge, unless it is corrected to $24.95.

Tax preparer did not follow advertising protocol of "no surprises" and "upfront transparent pricing guarantee". Costed $200 to do my taxes when I could've done them myself EASILY for free. Total ripoff! The only reason I came in to the office was to ask about the money in minutes (MIM) promo.

I went to H & R Block to file my taxes and the tax preparer there was great all the way till the end when it was time to enter my direct deposit info. I didn't have my banks routing number on hand and began calling them to get it.
While I was on hold with the bank, the tax preparer went ahead with what she thought was the right number, which it wasnt it was for a different bank. She entered the wrong routing number and filled my taxes before I could confirm it was right.
Now there's nothing supposedly she or I can do.
Been with H&R Block since 1997 as a customer. Last year was my last! The last 7 years H&R have repeatedly made mistakes and not corrected them, conveniently losing tax returns in their system, and skyrocketed rates. They promised a refund and never provided it.
If you file online and have any questions about your refund and you want to call customer service save yourself the trouble. They don’t give two cents about what you call to ask about instead they lie, give out false advertisement and make you feel uncomfortable with all your personal information you have just given them.

I went to H & R Block on January 17 2020 to get my taxes done . my form is very simple just one w2 and just me and my child are claimed. It took the guy who seemed new almost an hour to do and then when he was done tells me I owe 398 dollars seriously?
