I've been a customer with Public Storage for over 2 years. I've rented a 5x5 storage unit. In June 2022, I received notice of my rent increase. I contacted corp. management & explained I live on limited income. Darren (dist. mgr.) then reduced my increased payment. Then, I received another bill, increasing my rent again by $18.00 or $122.00, originally in Oct. 2022, which they waylaid until Nov. 2022. I can't afford to pay $122.00 & am unable to reach corp.management. I've spoken to reps & emailed customer service.

P..S. I indicated I would file a complaint, if I didn't hear back by yesterday.

What do you recommend I do now?

I rented a storage unit from the Public Storage on 820 at John T White Rd in TX. I went to get something out and realized the lock had been changed. I found out they had changed out all the locks at that location, but didn't bother to make arrangements for the customers to get a replacement key.

I've been getting the runaround for over 2 weeks now. I can't get my things out and the employees Ive talked to, seem clueless. The person they keep referring me to is basically unreachable. This is the worst storage I've ever used!

IF I ever get my stuff out I'll never be back! Horrible customer service, and management is a joke.

Over Labor Day Weekend I put a storage unit on hold (I thought) to try to move out as much as I could before my floor collapsed (joist issues).

The website interface was confusing and I wondered why they were asking for my financial information. I assumed it was in case I went through with renting the unit.

Before the day I had chosen to be the move in date I called to cancel the reservation and was unable to reach any person at the local rental location. The phone system told me to call the main number.

After an hour I was able to reach a customer service rep through the main number and explained I wanted to cancel my reservation and I could reach no one at the local location. I never took possession of any unit. She told me she canceled my reservation and I would not be charged.

Public Storage is the worst place to rent a storage unit. It's nasty and got mold on my clothes. I leave and they lie and say you departed at a later date and report you to collections. They raise the rent every month to ridiculous amount without notifying you and Rob you over and over again.

They are thieves converting thy neighbor's property. I would never ever in the 43 years of my life living in the state of Virginia rent from public storage. I will notify consumers relations Attorney General's Office for robbing me over and over again.

Raising the rent 40-50%. Price gouging. When there is NO security for over 7 weeks. Big garage door into public storage building broke for weeks & anyone could come in & go up to your unit door & break in.

& bugs all over inside windows, floors. AND on my newclothes. No prorate of rent if left 2nd day of month. & added a late fee & lein fee. And unit was empty. & I'm a good customer paying on 9 other units.

Im in building on Avon industrial rd, Rochester Michigan . Can you please let me pay half & release me from this $266. On unit 3036. I'm on social security on fixed income that I get 2nd thrus every mth.

I’ve been using Public Storage on and off since 2015, have never missed a payment. I recently had an on-time payment returned because my bank abruptly closed my account. Public Storage refused to waive their hefty late fee and insufficient funds fee even though I explained the situation was out of my control.

They were also rude and un-accommodating. This is no way to treat loyal customers. I will be looking into storing my belongings elsewhere after all of these years and I suggest you do the same.

I had someone to drive an hour away to secure my unit and they were told a lie.. every month I’m late, I do not pay til the end. September payment was made and now it’s October 4th.. The gate is accessible but the office personnel refused to take the blue lock off so my lock could be placed on..

I was told that October payment is in the red so a payment so October payment must be made first which I know to be untrue cause I’ve done this many times before. October payment is not past due til after the 5th

To whom it may concern, I have a unit @ your Southside Blvd location in Jacksonville Florida for about 3 yrs now. As of 3 mos. ago there are mice in my unit. When I called and talked to the manager and asked did they know that there were mice she said no not unless customers reported it, but then she turns around and

says yes some customers had complained about mice, but she told me when I first asked her did she know she said she didn't know! That means tenants should have been notified when they found out that there were pests.

I bought a unit at Auction & wanted to leave the items stored to go thru so I booked a rate online but when I arrived the employee couldn't get my unit right so he ended up moving my unit around, he lost my rate, charged me a few to transfer, & I never ever walked into that unit.

I ended up telling them I'm done after paying Jan/Feb/Mar/Apt/May & they sold it at auction and are charging ME $1000!!! A joke! Nobody will help me. Will get an atty if needed!

I reserved a unit online and the website just said 3x4. I showed up and it's a locker. The website did not provide the complete information or I would not have booked this unit. The location and customer service hotline refuses to give me a refund.

A work two full time jobs, $30 to me is A LOT of money. And now I have spent at least an hour trying to get assistance with this but no one is helping. I would like a refund because your site did not give that crucial information so I was mislead about what I was buying.

I’m paying a lot of money to rent a 10x30 unit in Building B of the Mount Holly, NC location. I was picking up some stuff from my unit today, September 4th, 2022 at 12:30pm. I pushed open the automatic door so that it would stay open while I’m moving furniture out.

The lady working at the facility was extremely rude when aggressively saying “don’t prop the doors open” and proceeded to slam it shut. I’m paying a lot of money not to be able to utilize the facilities how they were designed to be used.

I am immediately removing my stuff and will never rent from a Public Storage again.

Every time I go to our unit in Canton, Mi there is an issue with the keypad, or the doors or whatever yet pricing keeps increasing.....RIDICULOUS. On occasion the doors are left open and people are wandering around inside - are they customers or bums????? I am in search of a new unit as I have had it with you company.

I have a 10x20 storage unit that was originally priced at $138. They have increase my rental to almost $50 more after only 6 months. I could understand $10, $15 or maybe even $20 but $50 plus the mandatory insurance.

I spent 5 hrs taking everything out at the end to see if it would fit alone no it didn't. I had to leave as it was 9 and then I ended up with family ER in a 2 wk period both my aunt and mom passed I told them this and I had to take their remains to Florida.

When I got back they had thrown my new bed away then tried to charge me for their mistake I wouldn't have taken that unit if I'd known the bed wouldn't fit. Now I believe they should have to reimburse me and am trying to get them too but it's like pulling teeth.

What kind of people do that I was so appalled. am writing corporate and the BBB to demand they pay me.

I would have never rented a unit here if I had know the prior company was selling to Public Storage. talk about bait an switch tactic. Awful. When the storage door was opened. There were mice droppings everywhere. When I got home. All my boxes was full of debris where the mice had chewed through all items in boxes. This is unacceptable. I took photos of all the torn paper in the boxes.

There was also mice droppings in my sofas. Had to take boxes outside to look in them. I need to to have my sectional sofa cleaned. I want to be compensated for this.

I just started a new lease with public storage a week ago and started moving my belongings since. Got all my stuff moved in except for a few things that were heavier to move. So like most people, I had a friend come to my storage to help me unload these heavy items.

Next day my gate code didnt work and i wasnt able to get in to my storage. I work five days a week from 9am to 6pm. So i only had time to move my things after work which only gave me a couple hours at the most.

Thats not easy to do after a long hot day at work but I respect your hours and was almost close to being done. So once i realized I was locked out by Public Storage, I called to see what the problem was.

I have a storage space at 1129 N. Wells, Chicago Illinois. At 2:00 pm on July 9,2022 the woman sitting at the desk was extremely rude and refused to help. I had asked her for the gate code as I did not have my access card with me.

He demeanor was to suggest she is racist. She actually refused to help. I asked for her name and she responded “ I dunno know”. That is my name. When I left she dropped the gate to the entry door and closed up the facility denying me access to my storage unit.

I was deceived by the high prices of rent, believing that it assured quality care. I found out a week before I went to get my things that they'll only use pesticides if they see something. When I opened up the unit I could hardly believe the amount of urine and rodent excrement literally everywhere. Everything was absolutely chewed.

unit 576 for the past 3 days I was unable to access facility. From 700am to 1000 am july 5 ,6,7 on the 7th I waited an hour for the office to open to report the issue. I Spoke. to josie she.

gave me district managers name & number I called Kristen. Benitez and reported incident. She told me to call corporate office. This needs to be looked into and why the computers are off line quite often , on the 7thof July the sheriff's office was called because cars were unable to leave facility.

They said they were unable to open gates. They also stated that this has happened before. I wasted hours each day and had to return to access unit. I would appreciate a response and a credit for the days I was unable to enter facility.

I think it is an outrage to see Public storage raise their fees by 25% at this time. 00. I want to know how they can justify this price hike, when they produce nothing, and gas hikes have no influence on them. This is total greed.

how nice, they gave me a lock. Instead of using my own, I used the one provided. Big mistake! They must have copies of those keys, as I noticed things were shuffled around when I went to the unit a few weeks later. Lids off totes, etc.

Not like I had left it. Now that I have moved out, I have several things missing that I know I stored in there. no signs of break-in. It had to be management that took them.

I moved out on July 9 of 2021 at 1395 Pleasant Hill Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30044. I paid $161 on the 7/6/22, so probably I have to refund about $150. I have called customer service more than 5 times and asked for a refund, but there is no response so far.

I asked the staff for the contact number of the refund department, but they said they couldn't gave me a number and they were just requesting a refund. Each time they said that my name was on the refund request.

However, in the course of a year now, there is still no answer. I am still waiting for the refund for a year. Public storage seems to have the worst service for customers. I am so angry that I am on the verge of going crazy and desperately wants to file a complaint with the police.

Now in the 21st century, it is getting angry…

I just moved into this new unit from a smaller unit. I moved in the smaller unit on 03/2022. I moved two weeks ago into the bigger unit. Today I stopped by to pick something up and this rat dropped from the door after I opened it up.

It was acting funny liked it was poisoned. The manager saw it and tried to pick it up with a grabber. It disappeared into my belongings. I was told by the onsite manager that a exterminator was at the facility yesterday and that many rats were being picked up dead today. There was flys everywhere.

I am receiving a 32% rate hike on my storage unit. I contacted the on-site manager who said she tried to obtain an extension of the current rate and said she was unable to as it was system generated and system declined.

She gave me the wee care number which I called. The person I spoke with was Curt and borderline rude and said there was nothing they could do as they did have the right to raise the rental and there was no one else I could speak with??.

She finally forwarded me to the supervisor line. I had to call tha number twice to get someone to call me back. I got the exact same response from the next person. I called the executive line she provided and no one has called me back.

My name is Bobby Wrights. I have talked with the current property manager at various times concerning my unit. She always says that she will check into things, but she never calls back. Most recently, I was in Las Vegas and was hospitalized on May 31 for several days.

Because of my illness, I forgot to make my June payment on time. When I talked with the property manager today (6/14/22), she said she would check to see if the $40 late fee could be waved, and she put me on hold.

As usual, a couple of minutes later her phone went dead and as always, when I called back, she would not answer the phone. Please let me know if the $40 late fee on my account can be waved?

The facility on Old Mill Rd. in Occoquan VA has been our family storage unit for 2 years now, but that is about to end. On May 2nd 2022 we moved out of a larger unit to a smaller one and we were told mutliple times by the on site sales person that they would credit our larger unit payment to our smaller unit.

This is called a unit transfer. But the sales person put the unit in a new account and put it under my wife's name not mine even though the credit card number is the same. When we got billed for both units we called the local manger, who told us to call corporate as they couldn't credit one account from another even though it clearly was the same family and credit card.

So corporate told us they couldn't help and to talk to the local manager. In the end we are out $186 of over payment…

I rented for the first time in my life a storage unit as I was doing a renovation in my home sadly it was filled with linens towels clothes and beautiful vases dishes silverware and some kitchen things coffee pots etc. the place was infested with palmetto bugs roaches beetles every bug imaginable I am currently done with my renovation but when I went one time in March and told them nothing was ever said to me other then they would exterminate.

Recently as I intend to be out this month they told me I have insurance which I paid 15 a month and the insurance company told me the maximum I could recover would be 250 dollars. Sounds like a great deal spend 180 to recoup 250.

What a scam and also shameful that they have so many bugs.

05-06 I purchased storage a 10x10 for $267 from 120 West Easy Street, Simi Valley, CA

05-07 I was bringing items storage and I was sitting down taking a break and a lady with sunglasses and a bandana over her head fully lifted my partially closed storage door looked into my storage unit at me then shut it down and closed the door and locked the outside slider locking me in the unit.

I went to my storage to make a payment on 5/5/22 and there was nobody in the office so I called 3 times and left a message but never got a call back. I did the same thing on 5/6/22 and still wasn't able to make my payment!

I went back on 5/7/22 and there was finally someone in the office but then they had added a $20 late fee. It wouldn't have been late if someone had been in the office so I don't feel like I should have to pay the late fee!

I always make my monthly payment in person but sometimes there is nobody in the office to take my payment but this month was the worst! I went to the Public Storage in Mesquite on Oates Dr. to make my payment on 5/4//22, 5/5/22 and 5/6/22 and all 3 days there was nobody in the office to take my payment so I called everyday and left a message but I never received a call back!

The last message I left was on 5/6/22 and I let Public Storage know that all of this was going to cause me to be late on my payment and that I was not going to pay a late fee because there should be someone working in the office the hours that Public Storage is open! If there is nobody in the office during hours then Public Storage needs to hire more people!
